Introduction

Body

Ask: What are some objects that use electricity? make a list on whiteboard Ask: Why is electricity so important to our daily lives? o Transition: We use electricity so much without realizing it and we can sometimes forget how dangerous it can be (2 min) Show an example on the board of next activity: go through it collectively with the class Ask students to identify if it is unsafe, why and write a rule pertaining to that situation o Explain that people can become a part of the circuit Have volunteer student handing out worksheet Explain expectations prior to moving into the activity Work with assigned partner Move around room to the different stations Draw unsafe situation, explain why it is unsafe, write a rule to avoid hazardous situations o Explain that their explanations need to be detailed (one or two words are not acceptable) complete sentences & neat Explain after they have finished the stations they will go to their desk and individually come up with their own unsafe situation and follow the same proceedings be ready to share Explain time constraints and tell them when they need to be ready Partners can choose what station to start at but do not crowd at one station Ask if there is any questions (3 min) Move into activity
