MEMORANDUM

TO: FROM: DATE: RE: Todd Martin, Manager Nakayla Reese 3/6/2014 Top Challenges of Human Resources

I am writing this memo to inform you on some interesting information that I have researched for you concerning some of the top challenges with in the field of Human Resources. The following bullet points will be a brief analysis concerning my research on this topic and my recommendations to better solve these issues, if possible. While searching for some of the top challenges with in the Human Resources field, I came across two reoccurring challenges that seem to be an issue in Human Resources. The two issues that I kept coming across was the development of leaders and maintaining employees. These seem to be the top issues that the Human Resources field is facing and will continue to face in the future.

DEVELOPMENT OF LEADERS Human Resource executives are most concerned with the development of future leaders because they are afraid that the new generation coming up will not have the skill set to be affective in leadership roles. It is critical to have strong leaders in Human Resources because you have to maintain a culture right for employees and also take care of the behind the scenes aspect of things as well. To better resolve this concern that can later become a problem, companies are sending their employees that are in leadership roles to leadership training seminars. In these leadership training seminars, they will learn how to develop their qualities as a leader and how to become a better leader in the workplace (forbes.com, Meghan Biro).

MAINTAINING EMPLOYEES According to shrm.org, 59% of Human Resource executives believe that retaining and rewarding the best employees will be one of the greatest challenges faced in the next 10 years. When employees are not happy with their jobs, they tend to blame their unsatisfactory on the people who are in leadership roles. To resolve the situation of employees retaining, leaders have come up with several different things to satisfy employees with their jobs. These things are: providing flexible work arrangements, maintaining a culture of trust and communication, providing employees with opportunities for career advancement, (shrm.org) and many more just to name a few. With these incentives and leadership working towards creating an atmosphere where employees are happy and satisfied, the workplace environment would be more successful and productive.

In conclusion, the development of leaders and maintaining employees will always be two of the main challenges with in the field of Human Resources. Even though these issues will still be around in years to come, there are many different solutions that I have provided you with in the paragraphs above. Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to read this memo. Also there is a brief Works Cited page included to ensure the credibility of my sources.
