To Whom It May Concern: I had the pleasure of having Courtney Bell as my student teacher for the fall of the

2013 201! school year" Courtney #or$ed #ith three 10th grade #orld history classes as #ell as my daily advisory of tenth graders" Courtney left a lasting impression and #e all miss her a great deal" I have never seen a teacher% let alone a student teacher% gain the trust and respect of a group of students so &uic$ly" Within a #ee$ Courtney $ne# all of the students #ell and had gained their respect" Because of this% classroom management for Courtney #as a 'ree(e" When Ms" Bell taught% students #ere engaged and listening" There #ere many instances after Courtney and I had co taught a lesson% during student #or$ time% many students preferred getting help from Ms" Bell rather than myself" The students did not vie# Courtney as a student teacher% they vie#ed her as their teacher" Courtney #as not only concerned #ith teaching student)s content% 'ut also teaching students the s$ills they #ere going to need to 'e successful in college" Courtney spent a great deal of time #or$ing #ith the students on their #riting s$ills since that is one of the most essential s$ills needed to 'e a successful college student" Courtney e*plained to the students that although she #as teaching #orld history they needed to $no# ho# to communicate #hat they had learned through #riting" +he actually as$ed me if she could ta$e the lead on #or$ing #ith students on #riting" +he graded the ma,ority of the papers and gave students individual feed'ac$ and offered to meet #ith any of them one on one to revise their papers" Courtney #as also not afraid to challenge students to 'e 'etter academically or socially" If a student #as not performing up to their potential% Courtney #ould confront the student and the students appreciated ho# direct and honest she #as #ith them" Courtney seems to have a si*th sense if something is not right #ith a student or group of students" Multiple times Courtney addressed students individually and or in small groups a'out situations that #ere distracting them from their learning" This helped the focus to remain on learning and avoid larger distractions" I #as not the only one #ho #as impressed #ith Courtney" -ur principal and other teachers also commented fre&uently a'out ho# #ell Courtney #as doing" In fact% Courtney #as given responsi'ilities and opportunities 'y our principal that are not typically given to student teachers" .lmost every day one of my student)s comments a'out ho# much they miss /Ms" Bell"0 Courtney Bell #ill 'e a great addition to any school" +he is going to 'e a fantastic educator that #ill truly inspire the ne*t generation of students" 1lease feel free to contact me if you have any &uestions a'out Courtney" 2espectfully su'mitted%
