Whereas: It is Marquette University Student Government’s duty to identify and


address the concerns of the students; and,

Whereas: The administration has invested time and effort into means of
communication such as TXT MU, News Briefs, and Special Safety Alerts
which alert students to any possible threats on Marquette’s campus; and,

Whereas: The University repeatedly stresses its care and concern for the safety of its
students; and,

Whereas: On Sunday, November 18, 2007, a man armed with a knife and grenade
posed a threat to Marquette students in Parking Structure 2; and,

Whereas: Despite the fact that an armed suspect was on Marquette’s campus, no
effective method of communication was utilized by the administration.

Therefore: Let it be resolved that Marquette University Student Government is


dissatisfied with the lack of communication with students in the moments
after the events of Sunday, November 18, 2007.

Furthermore: Let it be recommended that in the future, the administration utilize


appropriate means of communication in order to notify the students of any
situation that may put them in harm’s way.
