Myles Williams 4/19/14 Writing Assignment #2 Argumentative Essay Martin Luther King Jr.

I have a dream! Those four words in Martin Luther Kings speech changed American history forever. In the late 1900s, America faced racial cruelty throughout the years. Though it seemed racism would never end due to the circumstances in America at the time, Dr. Kings hard work managed to pay off to create equality towards citizens from different ethnicities. This was Dr. Kings ultimate goal, to bring everyone together, regardless of race or nationality. Dr. Martin Luther King has definitely become the most influential person to ever live. His approach to segregation and unfair justice was beyond inspirational. Considering the treatment of blacks during that time period, Dr. King managed to fight back with non violence. He believed that freedom was in power of speech. Therefore, violence didnt have to be put in action. Consistently participating in marches and boycotts, Martin Luther King had no problem fighting for what he wanted the most. Anyone who can fight back strategically to bad treatment is definitely influential. In addition, Dr. King also ministered at local Alabama churches and empowered his message. Any man who can retreat to an

act of non violence after terrible treatment is influential regardless. He became the center target as the main voice for African Americans. You have to consider the circumstances these people were dealing with back then. Racism played a major part in America during that time period. African Americans couldnt drink the same water, use the same restroom, and were being hosed down if there were too many of them. However Dr. King utilized this as a tool for non violence and fought back with words. This shows how great of a leader Dr. King was. So why is Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. considered one of the most influential people to live? Hes left an extraordinary legacy with his charisma, dedication, and innovation. Hes inspired many great other leaders such as our president Barack Obama. In addition, equality has become efficient due to his influence. Anyone who can change the world to where it impacts everyone positively and also saves our up and coming generations is considered a hero in my eyes.
