What is the Johnstown Backpack Project?

The Johnstown Backpack Project provides backpacks full of ready-to-eat meals to over 100 children every weekend during the school year.

According to the national hunger relief organization, Feeding America, there are 6,290 food insecure children living in Cambria County. More than three out of four children in the Greater Johnstown School District receive free and reduced lunch at school, and over one in five children in Johnstown do not know where their next meals are coming from.
