ASSESSMENT, PLANNING AND INSTRUCTION Cheryl planned daily lessons for various different areas, such as: Language, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies and Visual Arts. She moved from teaching a portion of the morning to teaching almost the whole week. I provided Cheryl with written and oral feedback after each lesson. During and after each lesson, Cheryl reflected and took feedback given to her. She worked hard to show changes to her teaching based on feedback. Her lessons always included a learning intention directly linked to the Ontario Curriculum. When creating lessons, she took into account students with an IEP as well as those ESL/ELL students. She created a number of hands on activities for the class. She taught in large groups and on an individual basis. Cheryl prepared chart paper for modelled writing, art examples for students to follow and photocopies when necessary for independent response. The assessment Cheryl kept while delivering each lesson was either anecdotal or checklist. CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT Cheryl took the time to learn the rules and routines of the classroom. She worked hard to continue those with students. She was patient, kind and understanding to all students. When getting students' attention, she would use strategies such as a call out. "Eyes on me". Students knew to repeat back, "Eyes on you, Ms. Lee". She both praised and disciplined students when necessary in an appropriate way. When faced with definance, Cheryl gave warnings and is encouraged to follow through more consistently with consequences. She worked well with ESL/ELL students by relating to their needs and developing a rapport. Cheryl will continue to develop her confidence and increase her management skills. UNDERSTANDING CURRICULUM AND THE LEARNER Cheryl planned and implemented her lessons with the Ontario Curriculum Grade 2 document and used it to guide her teaching and activities that she used with the students. She did a great job at becoming familiar with each subject and used the documents to guide her teaching/activities. During her teaching practicum, she did well relating and using appropriate language with the grade twos. Cheryl

incorporated technology into her lessons by using the SmartBoard and projector as well as individual computers in our Mac Lab. She guided the students in a research project on animals using the internet. She focused on scaffolding the learning, presented clear expectations and success criteria on chart paper. Cheryl showed differentiated instruction to meet the various needs of the students in the class. She took into account the languages, learning difficulties and behaviour. DIVERSITY/EQUITY Cheryl worked well with the students on an individual basis. She always tried to give each student her full attention and respect when listening to each individual's needs. She learned about each student and how to work with their needs; both positive and negative behaviours. She learned different approaches for their needs and treated all students with respect. Cheryl incorporated the different learning abilities that made up the class. She worked well with the ESL/ELL students in the classroom giving them further instruction. She used the existing classroom reward system appropriately for positive and negative behaviours. With more in-class experience, Cheryl will continue to acquire more skills when dealing with a variety of students and abilities. PROFESSIONALISM Cheryl conducted herself in a professional manner at all times during her teaching block. She was appropriately dressed for the grade she was teaching. She would benefit from arriving earlier to prepare the classroom for the day. She interacted with staff, students and the administration with respect and responsibility. She sought clarification for anything she was unsure about and was receptive to any needs. Cheryl attended staff meetings and assemblies and was seen as a member of the school community. INVOLVEMENT IN SCHOOL/COMMUNITY LIFE Cheryl was active within the school. She participated in our Dance-a-thon that is a school wide event. During our 'Spirit Week', Cheryl was actively involved with Hat day, Crazy Hair day, Sports Jersey day, Pajama day and Beach day. ADDITIONAL COMMENTS Cheryl brings her very best in everything she attempts. Her genuine nature created a safe environment for the children and they all quickly connected with her. Cheryl is incredibly helpful, hardworking and sincere. She was always ready to support my needs as the classroom teacher in any way she could. Cheryl was always kind and caring towards each student and I wish her the very best in her teaching career.
