Opening Day Procedures & Routines

First Day of School


Introduction This will become the daily routine for each day my students come to my classroom. I believe it is important to begin the day together as a team. I will explain to the students that entering the classroom is the most important part of the day because it sets the tone for how our day will be. I will first model to my students the best way to enter the classroom. I will inform all my students that each person will have a chance to be the leader of the daily tasks. I will also explain to the students that our meeting rug is where we come to hear important

Procedure Entering the Classroom

Steps 1. Line up quietly outside the classroom door 2. Once teacher opens the door begin to enter the classroom with a smile on your face and a positive attitude. 3. Walk to your desk, put you bag on the back of your chair. 4. If homework was assigned, walk to the homework tray located at the front of the classroom and place the homework in the tray. 5. Rehearsal For younger children, it will be important that I continue to model how to enter the classroom at least 2-4 times. For the first two weeks of the new school year I will need to lend a helping hand to the the morning announcements but also encourage them to do their best on their own. 1. Students will quietly line up, one-line boys and one-line girls by the door. 2. Students will get in line with hands behind their backs facing forward ready to exit classroom. 3. When we are all ready to go, I will open the door and students will walk outside and wait on the left side of the hallway still in line so I can lock the door. door we will walk to the bathrooms. 5. Putting things in our cubbies

1. Students will quietly sit at their desks. 2. Students desks are designated by color, I will call their color. The students will go to cubbies in groups of four. 3. When the color is called, those students will stand up with their belongings and walk nicely to the cubbies. 4.
