Kendall Strother ENG 1102-075 Inquiry Proposal 3 February 2014 I want to research the process it takes to become a Basketball Coach. Some questions I ask are, what kind of certification do you have to have in order to Coach College or Pro level Basketball? What is the different Salary wages? What classes or course do you have to pass in order to become a coach? Why do you have to be a teacher to coach in High School? What does the Professional level basketball coach have to do? My goal is to learn and gain as much knowledge about coaching to benefit myself for my future.

I have played basketball since the age of six. I had the same coach from age six to about the age of twelve. We played AAU basketball but that ended when he had to move. During middle school and high-school years, we had a school ball team that played at the YMCA games and other tournaments during the off season. My grandfather was a basketball coach and he is the person I look up to. He would come to the games and critique the way some plays were ran, how I would play, and what I could have done better. I think basketball is part of my identity because I have played the sport for such a long time, and its something I always loved playing. After college I plan on coaching high school girls basketball. It is just something I have always wanted to try because a lot of people say I am good at analyzing the court and know what to do in certain situations.

For my multimodal project I plan to have a power point showing the facts about the different levels of coaching. I want to show pictures showing the different incomes of coaching such as the earnings of high school coaches compared to assistant coaching for college. My audience would be for anyone looking to become a basketball coach at any level so they can be aware of the process and what certifications they have to have in order to become a coach. Another cool idea I am doing is I am making my own practice

I plan to research more information about this topic but I just have enough for some background knowledge. I want to maybe interview a high school basketball coach to see what process they went through to get where they are now since that is what I want to do. My due dates will begin two weeks from now. I want to make my first due date February 17th, which is going to include me gathering all my sources and information to being the project. I will set due dates for myself every week so that I will not procrastinate and wait until the last minute to get everything done. I feel like if I do parts each week then it will be easier for me to complete my project on time and I will be able to do my best work.
