1. Formulating a Question
The first step involves formulating your question. A clearly defined, focused review begins with a well framed question. We use the PICOS acronym to help us think through the various components of a well-defined well question. You will need to consider who the participants of interest are, what intervention (or interventions) you want to examine, for example this could be a drug, a device, or a service. What do you want to compare against your chosen intervention? What are the important outcomes outcomes you wish to address, considering the benefits and harms? And finally, which study designs will be eligible for inclusion in your review. See the module on Writing a protocol for more information on these considerations.
