Mission: To equip primary and secondary responders with knowledge and skills to address the needs of at-risk adult crime victims in Georgia as part of a multi-disciplinary team, thus advancing public safety. Georgia is home to approximately 2.5 million at-risk adults. At-risk adults (adults 65+ & adults 18+ with any disability) CRITICAL THINGS ATTENDEES WILL LEARN: Joint accounts & legal documents are not licenses to steal Undue influence are transactions voluntary? Power of Attorney (what does that mean exactly?) Investigations and overcoming challenges Georgia criminal law relating to at-risk adults New changes to Georgia Law When is a death suspicious? Prosecution of crimes against at-risk adults Communication skills, and much more At-risk adults + Increasing need for services in communities + Economy = More opportunities for criminals = More crimes against at-risk adults.

Oglethorpe Blvd., Albany, GA 31702 July 23 & 24, 2014 8:30 AM to 5 PM Host: Richmond Co. Sheriffs Office Location: Richmond Co. Sheriffs Office Training Center Myers Building 2098 Greenland Road, Blythe, GA 30805 August 26 & 27, 2014 8:30 AM to 5 PM Host: Henry Co. Police Department Location: 120 Henry Parkway, McDonough, GA 30253 (This class is full) The class is open to law enforcement, prosecutors, judges, EMS, and social services agencies that respond to the abuse, neglect, and exploitation of at-risk adults. This training is not for the general public. 16 hours POST credit, 16 hours EMS credit, 12 hours CLE Officers must attend both days to receive POST credit There is no charge for the training. Any associated costs are the responsibility of attendee. Seating is limited R.S.V.P.to reserve a slot.
