4.2.3 Classroom Management a) What classroom-management strategies did you use during the lesson?

Cite examples of the strategies from the video. During the video, no easy-to-see strategies for classroom management were needed. The underlying technique that I use in the classroom at all times is respect. The students know that to receive respect they must show respect. The students displayed in this video showed respect for me and the students around them. If there would have been a problem, I would have warned a student at first. If the problem continued, the student would be sent to the Refocus corner where they would write about what they have done and how they will fix the problem. This corner allows the student to refocus so that they are ready to come back and work without any issues.

b) In what ways did the strategies engage students and promote a positive learning environment? Cite examples from the video to support your analysis. When a student is respectful of the teacher and students around them, a positive environment always follows. Lack of respect can be a huge issue within a classroom. I encourage my students to listen while the teacher is talking, listen while other students are talking, and be mindful of their surroundings by keeping their hands to themselves at all times. If a student needs reminding of a classroom rule, I quickly remind them and expect them to correct their behavior. If the behavior is not corrected, the Refocus corner always works. When the student comes back from refocus, the behavior is usually corrected and the student is ready to learn without any more interruptions.
