Eat Healthy Rhode Island

By: Rjanae, Natalia, Amaya On March 11, 2014 Mayor Taveras visited Veazie Street School again! The assembly began with the author of the book Is Your Hair Made of Donuts? introducing herself and asking some questions based on eating healthy. She asked questions like What is healthier? She allowed students to answer questions and one student even received a t-shirt for a correct answer! When the author was finished, the Mayor read the story to the students. As he was reading the story we were able to see the pictures from the book on the projector with Mrs. Alexandres help. After the last page the Mayor put the wig full of doughnuts on his head! He said it was very heavy! When the story was finished we learned that you are able to grow your own healthy foods using seeds, light, water, and soil. You are able to grow healthy foods such as vegetables and fruits. The Mayor also took some pictures with a few students! If you want to know more about the book Is Your Hair Made of Mayor Taveras with author Joy Feldman and Veazie students Donuts you can find it at your local library or book store!

Guide Dogs
By: Jayonna, Isabella, Imoni, and Isabella Today were talking about animals and guide dogs. Animals are very important to our world, and help us live. Like bugs, (we think that bugs are gross!), but some bugs eat other bugs and weeds that keep gardens safe and healthy. Animals are smart, helpful, and fun! Animals are lurking at any and every corner and even scare us sometimes, but not all animals are frightening. They can be very helpful!

Guide dogs are helpful in guiding people that are visually or hearing impaired. Dogs can be guard dogs too! Dogs also have different jobs. Dogs mean a lot to people. Dogs make their owners happy, most of the time, and they will always be there when youre sad. Dogs are like our furry BFFs. Guide Dog in training
