TASK AT HAND
Dr. Seuss has asked us to create a book about his rhyming career. We need to learn about Dr. Seuss, the books he wrote, the characters he created, the illustrations he used, and then create some Seussinspired rhymes of our own. You each will work to create a summary of your research which you will write in rhyme. Can you and your group work together to bring Dr. Seuss rhymes to the pages?
ROLES
Roles: Ready Researcher Crafty Characters
Step 1: Select a Role For Each Group Member
This person will research Dr. Seuss and learn about his life. They will then write about their research in rhyme. This person will study the characters that Dr. Seuss created and what books they appear in. They will then write about the characters they studied in rhyme.
Dandy Drawer
This person will study the art of Dr. Seuss and draw two characters that he created. Then they will write a couple sentences about each character in rhyme.
Book Buddy
This person will be studying the books that Dr. Seuss wrote. They will pick two books and give a summary of them in rhyme.
READY RESEARCHER
Your main job is to learn all you can about Dr. Seuss. Below are several websites you can use to help your search. Once you have collected a lot of information, you will create a summary of what you learned written in rhyme. For Final

Dr. Seuss was very well known for his use of illustrations. He used a variety of characters, settings, and colors to bring his stories to life through his drawings. Your task is to learn about Dr. Seuss art and re-create some key characters from his books. You will then write about your drawings in rhyme. Tips: What character did you choose? DANDY DRAWERS
CRAFTY CHARACTERS
Your main task is two learn about the characters Dr. Seuss brought to life in his stories. You will need to study different characters from different stories and choose at least two to write a summary about in rhyme. Below are some resources to help you!

BOOK BUDDY
Your job is to take a look at all the great books Dr. Seuss has written. You will be able to use the websites to learn about each book, and also learn fun facts about books written by Dr. Seuss. You will need to write a summary in rhyme of one book, and give two fun facts about the author written in rhyme. Tips: What was his first book written? Last book?

Join together with your group and share your rhyme summaries. Be sure to show respect as each group member is talking. Get a plain piece of white paper (one page for each member) and write your summaries/ draw your pictures on this page. Put your pages in order (Ready Researcher, Dandy Drawers, Crafty Characters, Book Buddy) and then work to create a front cover and a back. The Ready Researcher and Dandy Drawer will work together to create the front cover, and the Crafty Characters and Book Buddy will work together to create the back cover. Then bind all these pages together by using the stapler. Using a marker, write your names on the back page. Let your teacher know you are done by raising your hand. Work with your group to decide who will read what during your presentation. When the remaining groups are ready, you will present your rhyme book to the class.
