LANGUAGE ARTS & READING REVIEW is a class designed to help improve language arts, reading and comprehension skills. Reading and writing activities will help improve a students skills in preparation for middleschool reading and language arts assignments. BASIC MATHEMATICS REVIEW is a general review of basic mathematics operations with emphasis on factors, fractions, decimals, and use of formulas to solve problems. Introduction to elementary algebra with simple equations, addition and subtraction of like terms, signed numbers, and basic operations with algebraic equations. STUDY SKILLS: This class is designed to help students learn to be more successful in school by giving students methods and techniques to improve the way they study, do homework, and take tests. Topics covered include: goal setting, previewing a test, outlining, note taking, listening skills, and test taking. DRAMA & PERFORMANCE: Learn the craft of public performance. You will study, practice, and perform various styles of acting, moving and speaking as well as improvisation skills. Learn the skills you will need for presentations, projects, and public speaking assignments. Be better prepared for high school & college classes by learning how to present a descriptive speech, a persuasive speech, an entertainment speech, and a monologue. INTRODUCTION TO ROBOTICS introduces students to the fascinating world of robotics and artificial intelligence (AI) using Lego Mindstorm Robots. Learn how to design, build, and program your own robot. A $50.00 materials fee for this class is due and payable at the time of registration. INTRO TO WATERCOLOR: This painting course explores the various techniques used in preparing for and creating realistic watercolor paintings. Historical and contemporary painters work will be explores to examine individual development, style, and technique. Students will develop all of the skills necessary to prepare and sketch watercolor paintings. SPANISH: In this class students will learn basic Spanish. Students will learn the alphabet, numbers, days of week, months of the year and many more everyday words. CREATIVE WRITING: In this class students learn to write, poetry, or non-fiction, that goes outside the bounds of normal academic, and technical forms of literature.
