Justin Tarbell Philosophy of Teaching Why I Want to Teach Education is a special gift passed down from generation to generation

that every single child in the United States receives. When reflecting on this educational opportunity the most important piece of this e!perience are those who ma"e learning not only en#oyable but also allow learners to achieve their full potential$ the teachers. Teaching is a noble profession due to the powerful contributions that teachers give to the future citi%ens of our country. &s a future educator I would li"e nothing more than to positively contribute to the learners' potential growth and therefore the lives of the ne!t generation. (uring my time as a teacher my three main goals will be to ma"e learning fun relatable to students and to give them access to as much of my "nowledge and then some. &ll of the goals that contribute to my personal teaching include ma"ing education personal relevant and attention grabbing and if it is then students will have all of the tools to fully achieve their learning potential. &bove all else I hope to ma"e learning fun. )etting students out of their seats and moving through the use of Total Physical *esponse is one way to enhance en#oyment. This will not only allow them to create connections to ma"e learning personal. If students loo" forward to coming to class every day as opposed to the angst that some feel when going to school they will be in a more malleable mindset to allow me to teach them and facilitate their learning. +y second goal is to relate to students. In order for me to fully achieve this ideal I must "now my students and be able to reach them not only personally but also in terms of their learning. &t the beginning of the year I will not only as" them to tell me about

how they learn best ,or help them find out- but also information about themselves that they feel comfortable sharing with me in order to ma"e the class meet their needs and desires. .ne necessary aspect of teaching is ma"ing the information attainable and interesting to students. /astly and arguably the most important teaching goal is to give learners all of my "nowledge and then some by showing them the tools of how to be their own most valuable resource. . &lthough I will have more conte!t "nowledge than my students I never pretend to "now every word every grammar point and every cultural reference because I simply do not. In order to best teach the students I will utili%e multiple pro#ects that will incorporate the learning done in class. This allows for outside research for self0 teaching as well as learning from each other. I will focus on inspiring the students to learn from each other and on their own not #ust from me as their facilitator. &s a future educator I "now that I will encounter a diverse range students multiple challenges as well as a number of successes. 1owever aside from my aforementioned goals there is only one concept that I hope to give in my time as a teacher$ a legacy. /egacy in its simplest form means gift. I have been given so many opportunities by previous educators and also from education in general$ I hope to pass on to my students.
