Resume and Cover letter Defense and Description After reading the chapter and carefully examining the four types of resumes presented in our text I decided that although the traditional format would be the closest match, there was still no perfect match offered in the chapter. Due to this I took my search to the career center website, I found their guidelines for writing a resume and decided that I would follow that template. I had previously had a visit from the career center in my Public Relations class and our professor, Dr. Artman, had set aside a day to review resumes and discuss what was appropriate in each. I noticed that many of them had internships listed and was upset by the fact that in my three years at UNCG I had not held an internship position. After that class I gained some further insight on what I wanted the resume for this project to look like, so I began my search for an internship. I started by looking at the Spartan Careers website and I quickly found one that best fit my needs. The Make-a-Wish internship appealed to me because it not only required all the skills that I have already gained throughout my communication studies courses, but it also would allow me to be a part of an organization that plays a key role in many peoples lives. I want my internship to be a meaningful experience, and because I will be graduating next semester and embarking on an amazing volunteer opportunity, I also wanted something that would provide me with the preparation I will need upon my return. I carefully blended what they were seeking in their job posting to my own personal attributes and I hope that I am successful in helping them see me as that intern they highly desire.

My name is Suzelle Serra, and you wont find anyone quite like me. My life experiences have shaped me into a caring, motivated and enthusiastic individual. Every project that one presents is a representation of who that person is, in quality, performance, and dedication; My work showcases who I am, and I refuse to belittle myself into producing a product that does not show the recipient less than my best work. Thats not to say that I am perfectionist, because I greatly value the power of feedback and criticism, however once it is time to deliver the final product it will be all that it was intended to be, truly reflecting the motivated individual that produced it. Listening with a caring heart is the firsts step towards a fruitful conversation. Others have often attributed this skill to my personality, and I believe it is one of the essential characteristics that set me apart from everyone else. Caring for others is what motivates me to aspire for my continual growth. I naturally become invested in every organization I am a part of because of the intrinsic rewards that I receive from serving to further their mission. This mindset allows me to listen to others with an open mind, allowing for true collaboration and teamwork. Although this quality does get taxing on me at times, it is a rare gift, one that allows me to see others in a light that is usually lost in the professional world. Due to my diverse background I have been able to live in three different countries so far, and experience diverse cultures, allowing me to become culturally agile in this global economy. That is why people find me full of enthusiasm, because I carefully cater to that particular culture and their desires for communication. Thus far I have full proficiency in English and Spanish, with basic French skills. I aspire to extend this list, because I believe that Communication is holds the key to progress.
