Preface
The practical Study in MBA program develops the feeling of awareness. It helps the
management student to know about the difficulties and challenges of the business world.
Only theoretical studies do not impart complete education. There must be practical study to
add meaning of education.

To fulfill this objective live project has become an integral part of MBA Program. Us
you have practical outlook of the motivational aspects and witness the functions of
organizational productivity in real business, I have tried my level best to present a project
based on product line and product mix of Godrej.

Introduction

A study conducted on topic on product line of GODREJ products available in market place, with
concept of product line and product mix. Here we will study the product line with its
characteristic features like product width, length, depth, consistency.

History
The Company celebrated its centenary in 1997. In 1897 a young man named Ardeshir Godrej
gave up law and turned to lockmaking. Ardeshir went on to make safes and security equipment
of the highest order, and then stunned the world by creating toilet soap from vegetable oil. His
brother Pirojsha Godrej carried Ardeshir's dream forward, leading Godrej towards becoming a
vibrant, multi-business enterprise. Pirojsha laid the foundation for the sprawling industrial

Incorporation
Established in 1897, the Company was incorporated with limited liability on March 3, 1932,
under the Indian Companies Act, 1913.

Methodology
Research methodology is a way to systematic solve the research problem or to study. It may be
understood as a science of studying how research is done scientifically. In it, we study the
various steps that are generally adopted by a researcher in studying his/her research problem
along with the logic behind them. It is necessary for the researcher to know not only the research
methods but also the methodology.

We can say that research methodology has many dimensions and research do continuous a part
of the research methodology. Thus, when we talk of research methodology we not only talk of
research methods but also consider the logic behind the methods we use in the context of our
research study and explain why we are using the particular method or technique and why we are
not using other so that research result are capable of being evaluated either by the researcher
himself or by others.

Research:

Research in common parlance refers to search for knowledge. It is a scientific and systematic
search for penitent information on a specific topic. In fact, research is an art of science
investigation. The advanced Lerner’s dictionary of current English lags down n the meaning of
as ‘a careful investigation or inquiry especially through search for new facts in any branch of
knowledge.”

Objective:
The purpose of research is to discover answer to question through the application of scientific
procedures. The main aim of research is to find out the truth which is hidden and which has not
been discovering yet.

Research process:
Research process consist of series of Acton or steps necessary to effectively carryout research
and the desired sequencing of these steps.
Here in my report there is no any research its only descriptive study that I discussed it with
my colleagues and with those some expertise in this matter, than I took my study with
systematically.

Methods of data collection


The task of data collection begins after a research problem has been defined and research design
chalked out. While deciding about the methods of data collection to be used for the study, the
researcher should keep in mind two types of data

Product mix and product line:


The product mix is the set of all the products that an organization offer is to its customers. For
instance, godrej offers durables, toiletries, securities, furniture etc. a product mix consist of all
the product mix lines and categories. It has a certain characteristics features like product width,
length, depth and consistency.

Width: this is the total number of product lines a company carries.

Length : The length of the product mix is the total number of items in that mix.

Depth : the depth of product mix is the assortment of size colors and radiations offered
for each product in the product line.

Consistency: Consistency reference to the closeness exhibited by the products line in


production requirements, distribution end, usages etc.

Here the godrej company is providing a long product line of various products. It has a huge

product mix.

Conclusion:

By looking to company and its product line and product mix we can say that company has very
deep product line and long product mix. This increases the strength of the company and also
increases the profitably of company. By increasing the product line and product mix company
have minimizing risk. So this strategy is advisable.
