2. Safety
2.1 Intended use The Model 32 machine glass thermometer is used for measuring the temperature in plant or machinery. The instrument has been designed and built solely for the intended use described here, and may only be used accordingly. The technical specifications contained in these operating instructions must be observed. Improper handling or operation of the instrument outside of its technical specifications requires the instrument to be shut down immediately and inspected by an authorised WIKA service engineer. The manufacturer shall not be liable for claims of any type based on operation contrary to the intended use. 2.2 Personnel qualification WARNING! Risk of injury should qualification be insufficient! Improper handling can result in considerable injury and damage to equipment. The activities described in these operating instructions may only be carried out by skilled personnel who have the qualifications described below. Keep unqualified personnel away from hazardous areas. Skilled personnel Skilled personnel are understood to be personnel who, based on their technical training, knowledge of measurement and control technology and on their experience and knowledge of country-specific regulations, current standards and directives, are capable of carrying out the work described and independently recognising potential hazards.

For hazardous media such as oxygen, acetylene, flammable or toxic gases or liquids, and refrigeration plants, compressors, etc., in addition to all standard regulations, the appropriate existing codes or regulations must also be followed. WARNING! Residual media in dismounted instruments can result in a risk to persons, the environment and equipment. Take sufficient precautionary measures. Do not use this instrument in safety or Emergency Stop devices. Incorrect use of the instrument can result in injury. Should a failure occur, aggressive media with extremely high temperature and under high pressure or vacuum may be present at the instrument.

5.1 Transport Check instrument for any damage that may have been caused by transport. Obvious damage must be reported immediately.

5.2 Packaging Do not remove packaging until just before mounting. Keep the packaging as it will provide optimum protection during transport (e.g. change in installation site, sending for repair).

5.3 Storage Permissible conditions at the place of storage:

Avoid exposure to the following factors: Direct sunlight or proximity to hot objects Mechanical vibration, mechanical shock (putting it down hard) Soot, vapour, dust and corrosive gases Potentially explosive environments, flammable atmospheres Store the instrument in its original packaging in a location that fulfils the conditions listed above. If the original packaging is not available, pack and store the instrument as described below: 1. Wrap the instrument in an antistatic plastic film. 2. Place the instrument, along with shock-absorbent material, in the packaging. 3. If stored for a prolonged period of time (more than 30 days), place a bag containing a desiccant inside the packaging. WARNING! Before storing the instrument (following operation), remove any residual media. This is of particular importance if the medium is hazardous to health, e.g. caustic, toxic, carcinogenic, radioactive, etc.

WARNING! Only use suitable sealing material! Hot media might escape if unsuitable sealing material is used. Unsuitable sealing material may cause damage to the plant and pollution of the environment. Use a sealing material that is suitable for the temperature range, and that is resistant to the medium being measured.

Before mounting Before starting the work, make sure that the conditions for mounting the thermometer are met: The plant is disconnected and free from pressure. The plant has cooled down to ambient temperature. There is a threaded fitting at a suitable position in the plant. A suitable sealing material is used.

7.1 Maintenance The machine glass thermometers do not require maintenance. Repairs must only be carried out by the manufacturer. 7.2 Cleaning CAUTION! Prior to cleaning, disconnect the instrument from the measuring point. Clean the instrument with a dry or moist cloth. Do not use sharp objects or aggressive cleaning agents for cleaning. Wash or clean the dismounted instrument before returning it, in order to protect personnel and the environment from exposure to residual media. Residual media in dismounted instruments can result in a risk to persons, the environment and equipment. Take sufficient precautionary measures. For information on returning the instrument see chapter "8.2 Returns". WARNING! Do not hose down with water! Make sure that water does not get into the thermowell stem, since either the glass insert or the thermowell stem might be damaged at temperatures below 0 C.

8. Dismounting, return and disposal
WARNING! Residual media in dismounted instruments can result in a risk to persons, the environment and equipment. Take sufficient precautionary measures. 8.1 Dismounting WARNING! Risk of burns! Let the instrument cool down sufficiently before dismounting it! When dismounting it, there is a risk that dangerously hot pressure media may escape. The housing can get hot during operation. Never touch a hot thermometer. CAUTION! Before dismounting, make sure that the plant has been disconnected and cooled down and that it is free from pressure.

WARNING! Absolutely observe when shipping the instrument: All instruments delivered to WIKA must be free from any kind of hazardous substances (acids, bases, solutions, etc.). When returning the instrument, use the original packaging or a suitable transport package.

To avoid damage: 1. Wrap the instrument in an antistatic plastic film. 2. Place the instrument, along with shock-absorbent material, in the packaging. Place shock-absorbent material evenly on all sides of the shipping box. 3. If possible, place a bag containing desiccant inside the packaging. 4. Label the shipment as carriage of a highly-sensitive measuring instrument. Enclose the completed return form with the instrument. Dispose of instrument components and packaging materials in an environmentally compatible way and in accordance with the countryspecific waste disposal regulations.

Weitere wichtige Sicherheitshinweise befinden sich in den einzelnen Kapiteln dieser Betriebsanleitung. 2.1 Bestimmungsgeme Verwendung Das Maschinen-Glasthermometer Typ 32 dient zur Temperaturmessung in Anlagen oder Maschinen. Das Gert ist ausschlielich fr den hier beschriebenen bestimmungsgemen Verwendungszweck konzipiert und konstruiert und darf nur dementsprechend verwendet werden. Die technischen Spezifikationen in dieser Betriebsanleitung sind einzuhalten. Eine unsachgeme Handhabung oder ein Betreiben des Gertes auerhalb der technischen Spezifikationen macht die sofortige Stilllegung und berprfung durch einen autorisierten WIKAServicemitarbeiter erforderlich. Ansprche jeglicher Art aufgrund von nicht bestimmungsgemer Verwendung sind ausgeschlossen. 2.2 Personalqualifikation WARNUNG! Verletzungsgefahr bei unzureichender Qualifikation! Fachpersonal Das Fachpersonal ist aufgrund seiner fachlichen Ausbildung, seiner Kenntnisse der Mess- und Regelungstechnik und seiner Erfahrungen sowie Kenntnis der landesspezifischen Vorschriften, geltenden Normen und Richtlinien in der Lage, die beschriebenen Arbeiten auszufhren und mgliche Gefahren selbststndig zu erkennen. Spezielle Einsatzbedingungen verlangen weiteres entsprechendes Wissen, z. B. ber aggressive Medien. 2.3 Besondere Gefahren WARNUNG! Bei gefhrlichen Messstoffen wie z. B. Sauerstoff, Acetylen, brennbaren oder giftigen Stoffen, sowie bei Klteanlagen, Kompressoren etc. mssen ber die gesamten allgemeinen Regeln hinaus die einschlgigen Vorschriften beachtet werden. WARNUNG! Messstoffreste in ausgebauten Gerten knnen zur Gefhrdung von Personen, Umwelt und Einrichtung fhren. Ausreichende Vorsichtsmanahmen ergreifen. Dieses Gert nicht in Sicherheits- oder in Not-Aus-Einrichtungen benutzen. Fehlerhafte Anwendungen des Gertes knnen zu Verletzungen fhren. Am Gert knnen im Fehlerfall aggressive Medien mit extremer Temperatur und unter hohem Druck oder Vakuum anliegen.

5.2 Verpackung Verpackung erst unmittelbar vor der Montage entfernen. Die Verpackung aufbewahren, denn diese bietet bei einem Transport einen optimalen Schutz (z. B. wechselnder Einbauort, Reparatursendung).

5.3 Lagerung Zulssige Bedingungen am Lagerort:
Lagertemperatur: 0 ... 70 C Feuchtigkeit: 35 ... 85 % relative Feuchte (keine Betauung)
Folgende Einflsse vermeiden: Direktes Sonnenlicht oder Nhe zu heien Gegenstnden Mechanische Vibration, mechanischer Schock (hartes Aufstellen) Ru, Dampf, Staub und korrosive Gase Explosionsgefhrdete Umgebung, entzndliche Atmosphren Das Gert in der Originalverpackung an einem Ort, der die oben gelisteten Bedingungen erfllt, lagern. Wenn die Originalverpackung nicht vorhanden ist, dann das Gert wie folgt verpacken und lagern: 1. Das Gert in eine antistatische Plastikfolie einhllen. 2. Das Gert mit dem Dmmmaterial in der Verpackung platzieren. 3. Bei lngerer Einlagerung (mehr als 30 Tage) einen Beutel mit Trocknungsmittel der Verpackung beilegen. WARNUNG! Vor der Einlagerung des Gertes (nach Betrieb) alle anhaftenden Messstoffreste entfernen. Dies ist besonders wichtig, wenn der Messstoff gesundheitsgefhrdend ist, wie z. B. tzend, giftig, krebserregend, radioaktiv, usw.

WARNUNG! Nur geeignete Dichtwerkstoffe verwenden! Bei ungeeigneten Dichtwerkstoffen kann heies Medium austreten. Ungeeignete Dichtwerkstoffe knnen zu Schden an der Anlage und zu Verunreinigungen der Umwelt fhren. Einen fr den Temperaturbereich geeigneten und gegen das zu messende Medium bestndigen Dichtwerkstoff verwenden.

Vor der Montage Vor Beginn der Arbeiten berprfen, ob die Voraussetzungen fr die Montage des Thermometers erfllt werden: Die Anlage ist ausgeschaltet und drucklos. Die Anlage ist auf Umgebungstemperatur abgekhlt. Ein Einschraubstutzen ist an einer geeigneten Stelle in der Anlage vorhanden. Ein geeigneter Dichtwerkstoff wird verwendet.

7. Wartung und Reinigung
7.1 Wartung Die Maschinen-Glasthermometer sind wartungsfrei.
Reparaturen sind ausschlielich vom Hersteller durchzufhren. 7.2 Reinigung VORSICHT! Vor der Reinigung das Gert ordnungsgem von der Messstelle trennen. Das Gert mit einem tockenen oder feuchten Tuch reinigen. Beim Reinigen keine scharfen Gegenstnde oder aggressive Reinigungsmittel verwenden. Ausgebautes Gert vor der Rcksendung splen bzw. subern, um Personen und Umwelt vor Gefhrdung durch anhaftende Messstoffreste zu schtzen. 7.1 Entretien Les thermomtres industriels en verre ne ncessitent pas dentretien. Les rparations ne doivent tre effectues que par le fabricant.
7.2 Nettoyage ATTENTION ! Avant le nettoyage, sparer l'appareil du point de mesure conformment aux prescriptions. Nettoyer l'appareil avec un chiffon sec ou humide. Pour nettoyer l'instrument, ne pas utiliser de produits de nettoyage aggressifs ou dobjets tranchants. Laver ou nettoyer linstrument dmont avant de le retourner afin de protger les collaborateurs et lenvironnement contre le danger li aux restes de fluides adhrents. Les restes de fluides se trouvant dans des appareils dmonts peuvent mettre en danger les personnes, lenvironnement ainsi que l'installation. Prendre des mesures de scurit suffisantes. Indications concernant le retour de lappareil, voir chapitre "8.2 Retour". AVERTISSEMENT ! Ne jamais rincer l'instrument l'eau courante ! Veiller ce que l'eau n'entre pas dans le tube plongeur puisque l'insert en verre ou le tube plongeur peut tre endommag en cas de tempratures au-dessous de 0 C.

Prendre des mesures de scurit suffisantes. 8.1 Demontage AVERTISSEMENT ! Danger de brlure ! Avant le dmontage du thermomtre, laisser refroidir suffisamment l'appareil ! Danger de brlure li la sortie de fluides dangereux chauds. Le botier peut se rchauffer pendant le fonctionnement. Ne jamais toucher le thermomtre chaud. ATTENTION ! Avant le dmontage, vrifier si le systme est arrt, mis hors pression et s'il a refroidi.

5. Transporte, embalaje y almacenamiento

5.1 Transporte Comprobar si el instrumento presenta eventuales daos causados en el transporte. Notificar inmediatamente cualquier dao evidente.

5.2 Embalaje Slo quitar el embalaje justo antes del montaje. Guardar el embalaje porque es la proteccin ideal durante el transporte (por ejemplo si el lugar de instalacin cambia o si se enva el instrumento para posibles reparaciones).

5. Transporte, embalaje y almacenamiento

5.3 Almacenamiento Condiciones admisibles en el lugar de almacenamiento:
Temperatura de almacenamiento: 0 ... 70 C Humedad: 35 ... 85 % de humedad relativa (sin roco)
Evitar lo siguiente: Luz solar directa o proximidad a objetos calientes Vibracin mecnica, impacto mecnico (apoyarlo de golpe) Holln, vapor, polvo y gases corrosivos Entorno potencialmente explosivo, atmsferas inflamables Almacenar el instrumento en su embalaje original en un lugar que cumple las condiciones arriba mencionadas. Si no se dispone del embalaje original, empaquetar y almacenar el instrumento como sigue: 1. Envolver el instrumento en una lmina de plstico antiesttica. 2. Colocar el instrumento junto con el material aislante en el embalaje. 3. Para un almacenamiento prolongado (ms de 30 das) colocar una bolsa con un secante en el embalaje. ADVERTENCIA! Antes de almacenar el instrumento (despus del funcionamiento), eliminar todos los restos de medios adherentes. Esto es especialmente importante cuando el medio es nocivo para la salud, como p. ej. custico, txico, cancergeno, radioactivo, etc

6.3 Montaje
ADVERTENCIA! Slo utilizar material de sellado adecuado! El medio caliente puede escaparse si se utilizan materiales de sellado inadecuados. Los materiales de sellado no adecuados pueden causar daos en la instalacin y la contaminacin del medio ambiente. Utilizar un material de sellado adecuado para el rango de temperatura y que est resistente al medio a medir.

Antes del montaje Antes de comenzar los trabajos comprobar si se han cumplido los siguientes requerimientos para el montaje del termmetro: La instalacin est desconectada y sin presin. La instalacin se ha enfriado al nivel de la temperatura ambiente. Est disponible un racor en una posicin accesible de la instalacin. Se utiliza un material de sellado adecuado.

7. Mantenimiento y limpieza
7.1 Mantenimiento Los termmetros de capilla no requieren mantenimiento. Todas las reparaciones solamente las debe efectuar el fabricante. 7.2 Limpieza
CUIDADO! Antes de limpiar desconectar el instrumento del punto de medicin. Limpiar el instrumento con un trapo seco o hmedo. No utilizar objetos puntiagudos o detergentes agresivos para la limpieza. Una vez desmontado el instrumento se debe enjuagar y limpiar antes de devolverlo para proteger a las personas y el medio ambiente contra residuos del medio de medicin. Restos de medios en instrumentos desmontados pueden crear riesgos para personas, medio ambiente e instalacin. Tomar adecuadas medidas de precaucin. Vase el captulo "8.2 Devolucin" para obtener ms informacin acerca de la devolucin del instrumento. ADVERTENCIA! No limpiar con chorros de agua! El agua no debe penetrar en el bulbo porque el inserto de vidrio o el bulbo pueden daarse a temperaturas por debajo de 0 C.

ADVERTENCIA! Es imprescindible observar lo siguiente para el envo del instrumento: Todos los instrumentos enviados a WIKA deben estar libres de sustancias peligrosas (cidos, lejas, soluciones, etc.). Utilizar el embalaje original o un embalaje adecuado para la devolucin del instrumento.

Para evitar daos: 1. Envolver el instrumento en un film de plstico antiesttico. 2. Colocar el instrumento junto con el material aislante en el embalaje. Aislar uniformemente todos los lados del embalaje de transporte. 3. Si es posible, adjuntar una bolsa con secante. 4. Marcar debidamente el envo para indicar que se trata de un un instrumento de medicin altamente sensible. Rellenar el formulario de devolucin y adjuntarlo al instrumento.

Eliminar los componentes de los instrumentos y los materiales de embalaje conforme a los reglamentos relativos al tratamiento de residuos y eliminacin vigentes en el pas de utilizacin.

En aplicaciones con mucha carga debe utilizarse una vaina adicional segn DIN 43772.

La aplicacin de vainas permite montar y desmontar el termmetro de capilla durante el funcionamiento. En este caso la instalacin puede mantenerse bajo presin y no es necesario evacuar los conductos.
