My Psychology 1100 Reflection of Learning
Over the course of the semester I have learned many new things from sychology
1100 Life San !rowth and "eveloment# which have allowed me to grow and develo
within my SL$$ $ollege %ide Student Learning Outcomes. Of these outcomes I would
li&e to showcase 'ust a few that I feel highlight my growth as a student.
(he develoment of )uantities literacy necessary for my chosen field of study.
(hrough out the course# cognition a*ilities and hysical growth from infancy to old age is
discussed. %e are taught different disorders and *arriers that come along with each age
grou. I *elieve I can ta&e this &nowledge and aly it to my future career.
My chosen career ath is to earn a doctoral certificate in Physical (heray. (he
age ranges of the atients that come into a P( clinic are from around + to *eyond ,0
years. Psychology 1100 heled me understand the mental cognitive a*ilities of all age
ranges. (his will hel me understand my atient-s cognitive a*ilities# and hel guide me
in their ersonalized treatment. .or e/amle a child who has 0"1" and has severally
srained their an&le may need hysical theray. (he hysical theraist has to *e a*le to
recognize that that child will not sit still long enough for their an&le to heal in the normal
amount of time. 2ecause we discussed 0"1" in sych. 1100 and the *arriers that come
along with it# I feel that I would *e a*le to modify that child-s theray to cater to his
hyeractivity disorder.

highlight is# students develo the &nowledge and s&ills to wor& with others in a
rofessional and constructive manner. In sych. 1100 oinions and discussions are
encouraged. One of the course o*'ectives is for students to ma&e connections *etween
material rovided in class# te/t and the 3real world4 with ractical alications. %e are
encouraged to relate class information to self# family# social grous# and human&ind.
I feel I have grown ersonally with from this. I am a relatively shy individual and
I do not li&e voicing my oinions in class. (he acceting and rofessional manor of this
classroom really heled my confidence in articiating in class. I feel that I have grown
in the ast semester as a student in my a*ilities to sea& u in class and voice my
oinions and understanding of &nowledge. (he level of resect that was reresented in
this class was that anyone could voice their oinions and they were listened to and
considered. (his is what really encouraged me to sea& u. I feel the ersonal stories and
&nowledge that was shared# as well as the &nowledge I ut forth heled everyone relate
and understand the toics *eing discussed.
(his ast semester I have grown in my a*ilities as a student at Salt La&e
$ommunity $ollege. (he $ollege %ide Student Learning O*'ectives have aved the way
for me to focus my learning. Psychology 1100 has heled me to understand the cognitive
a*ilities across the life san# and relate it to my future career as well as my current life.
(his &nowledge will guide me in my future career in order to hel my atients heal in a
manor that is secific for them. My social s&ills were also imroved. (hrough the
acceting and oen atmoshere of this classroom environment I was a*le to e/ress my
oinions# as well as showcase my understanding while heling others. I feel that I have
imroved greatly this semester# and this is largely *ecause of the &nowledge and
accetance of my sychology 1100 class.
