Personal Learning Plan (Version 1.1)

Name: Nishant Kapdi Critical Friend: Poorvi Doshi
My Personal Learning Plan is a document of the practices that I do and continue with
the success formula and add new ways to continue creating innovativeness and
formulate a strategy for the best practices and compete with the inner self to achieve
the best and keep myself updated with the other schools.
It is therefore, an evolving document for reflecting on my learning with a critical friend.
For each PLP reflection (3/ year), I will review my plans on a regular basis and keep it
updated.
To refine my plans and describe the related Wicked Awesome Learning Opportunities
(WALOs) that I have pursued at our school site. After sharing the written reflection with
my critical friend, I will have the opportunity to have a reflective conversation about my
work.
PBL is a need, and based on the need its becoming a necessity. Necessity is the
mother of all invention
Creating/ working upon a project. Project is not less than an invention.
Project creation needs a critical thinking, planning and following protocols.
This year, I will be facilitating 199 students of grade 9 and 10 ICSE Biology achieve
their goals.

1. Hopes and Dreams this year (2013-2014)
Craft of Teaching
Currently I teach Biology to 199 students of std. 9 & 10 of ICSE board.
I have been using various kinds of teaching methodologies over the past 8 years of
my teaching experience like lectures, Mind Maps, Pow-Toons, Digital Software to
Teach Anatomy (3D ANATOMY), PowerPoint presentations, Prezi, Classroom
discussions, Making models and currently BLM (Blended Learning Method) of flipped
classroom.
We also present our content in a few other ways like presenting a topic by each
student, Research and create a documentary.
Sharing my reflections with my critical friend will help me understand my work. Peers
and group members will be a way out towards my goals.

Task1:
To Design a booklet for students that includes all biology terms of their ICSE syllabus.
Taking PBL as a project and integrate that with the curriculum may have many
challenges. There will be greater expectations from the leaders, my team members,
my colleagues. We always aspire to achieve more and TGES is not far from
achieving the best for and bringing them to students.
To incorporate BLM (Blended learning method) in my class and to video tape my
teaching practices and students presentations for further reflections and reference;
it may become further a part of evidence.
Task2:
Working with students
To assist and facilitate my advisees to achieve their goals and create an
environment where learners are facilitated to learn from peers and advisor.
Learners will display their skills by creating their Digital portfolio and update it on a
regular basis.
2. What are my fierce wanderings? What do I hope to learn?
Will I be able to help students learn and understand all the Biological Terminologies
successfully as they are difficult to memorize?
How am I going to work with the ICSE Grade 10 board students?
What will be the content of my product?
Who will help me achieve my target?
Will I be able to update my digital portfolio regularly?
Will I be able to give enough time to the students for their project discussions?
I had designed a project for making a booklet will that be completed within the
decided time frame?

graders are a difficult group to handle, especially because of their age
o Handling their innocence, intelligence and maturity would be a challenging
task.
For 10

Graders:

graders are a serious bunch when it comes to appear for their boards, but
preparing them for boards with patterns of writing (speed, accuracy, and
legibility is a tough task.

3. Essential questions?

How will I train the students to work upon a project?
How will this my project help students achieve what they want?
Will compilation of a book help them save time and will overcome their fears?

4. What do I want to achieve?

To Design a booklet with a group of students
Through this project we would like to ensure that all the biological terms for the
syllabus are covered and saves critical time for everyone. All the more it will facilitate
the learning for the groups of students and teachers who will be involved with grade
9 students in future
Sharing and Collaboration with colleagues:
Keeping in touch with my colleagues on a regular basis, using all the methods
that can be the quickest and easiest.
Sharing best practices with colleagues .

WALOs

To Design at least three Wicked Awesome Learning Opportunities (WALOs) to reflect
on my practice.
A session with the subject expert to understand the meaning of some essential terms
and learning methodologies (use of Latin and Greek Derivatives) to make that much
simpler.
Maintain a J ournal of my work on a regular basis and keep students and colleagues
updated.
Meeting the members of HTH team on a regular basis.
Take regular feedbacks via online surveys from students, teachers and mentors.
