Prompt: 6h. Write a 300-word satirical This I Dont Believe essay in which
you take on the persona of an opponent to your position on your issue or a
stakeholder that sees only the limitations of your proposal. Model the essay
after NPRs This I Believe guidelines. Check out The Onion for example
satires. Note: The Onion often uses adult humor and language.

I dont believe police are bad. I dont believe they are out to prey on the citizens. I
dont believe they have malicious motives, violent tendencies, or inadequate edu-
cation. When you say police are contributing to the problems, and not helping
make our communities safer; this I dont believe. I dont believe the hundreds of
stories that are brought to the publics attention every day, mean that police mis-
conduct is a common problem. I also do not believe that the media, politicians, and
representatives of law enforcement establishments try to keep their misconduct un-
der-wraps. Everyone knows that only most honest people are chosen for those po-
sitions.
I dont believe we should try to put more effort into controlling crime in
poverty stricken areas, and I dont believe there is a problem with law enforcement
resources being focused toward the wealthy communities. The wealthy have more
that can be stolen and damaged, plus they are more likely to vote. I dont believe
police should be more focused on preventing violent crimes, instead of busting
drug users. Drugs make people act violent; I dont believe there would be any vio-
lence without drugs. People say we are wasting our time, money, and resources
with the drug war. This I dont believe.
I dont believe there is a need for our law enforcement system to reform in
the United States. If you dont like it, you can leave. I dont believe that saying an-
ything is wrong with our justice system is patriotic. I dont believe trying to change
anything does any good. And I dont believe our forefathers would want us to
make our country a better, more cooperative, or a happier place. This I dont be-
