a. kinetic energy- the energy possessed by a body because of its motion,


equal to one half the mass of the body times the square of its speed.
b. potential energy- the energy possessed by a body by virtue of its
position relative to others, stresses within itself, electric charge, and other factors.
c. oxidation- the process or result of oxidizing or being oxidized.
d. reduction- the action or fact of making a specified thing smaller or less
in amount, degree, or size.
