John Washbrun Jr. (2nd) was Governor and Company of Massachusetts Bay from Southeast England. He was
in Duxbury, Massachusetts in 1631, where he was made a Freeman. He purchased land from the Massasoit
Indians and founded Bridgewater, Massachusetts, where he lived in 1645. He served in the fight against the
Narrangansetts in 1645.

Jeptha Woodward came to Deweysburgh, Caledonia County, Vermont from Smithfield, Providence County,
Rhode Island with his "widowed" mother, (6) brothers, (4) sisters in 1782. Located on the place where his son
Benjamin Woodward lives in 1887. He married Persis (nee: Washburn) Rowell and had born to them (3) sons
and (2) daughters. He died August 28, 1861 at the great age of one hundred years and seven months. Source:

Vermont, Husbandman for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred pounds lawful money to me in
hand will and truly paid by Joseph Woodward of Deweysburgh, County and State aforesaid, Yeoman, Receipt
whereof truly acknowledge, have given, granted, bargained and sold and do by these presents Give grant

assigns forever a certain Tract or parcel of Land being one hundred Acres in Deweysburgh bounded as

Notes for JEREMIAH WASHBURN:

Jeremiah Washburn and Hannah Orcutt were the first couple ever married in Lyndon, Vermont. They were
married on 6/26/1794. They actually lived in the adjoining town of Sutton (f/k/a Billymead), Vermont.
Jeremiah was the first town constable of Sutton, and Hannah's father, Samuel Orcutt, was the first town
moderator. It appears that Jeremiah and Hannah were both born in Sandwich, New Hampshire. The best date
I have for Jeremiah is some time around 1771. I have not been able to nail down who Jeremiah's parents were.
The best guess I have is that his father may have been Nehemiah Washburn, who was born in Bridgewater,
Massachusetts on Jan. 1, 1743, and married Ruth Egerton on March 29, 1770 in Bridgewater. Nehemiah's
parents were Noah Washburn and Mary Staples.

Leslie Washburn, twin to Aurie Washburn, was a house builder and mover. His own house, unluckily,
was destroyed by fire. Around 1930, he added four carvings which he sculpted himself to his parents
home. Three of the carvings, in the shape of men, held up the porch roof, while the fourth, a little boy, sat
astride the roof. He was renowned for his skill in moving a house without even having to remove the
pictures from the walls. He was briefly married to Liefa Armstrong whose family has been indicated to
being of Abenaki Native descent.
