This Week we are learning

This week in math, we are:
K.OA.1 Represent addition and subtraction with
objects, fingers, mental images, drawings, sounds
(e.g., claps), acting out situations, verbal
explanations, expressions, or equations.
K.OA.2 Solve addition and subtraction word
problems, and add and subtract within 10, e.g., by
using objects or drawings to represent the problem.
K.OA.3 Decompose numbers less than or equal to 10
into pairs in more than one way, e.g., by using
objects or drawings, and record each
decomposition by a drawing or equation (e.g., 5 = 2
+ 3 and 5 = 4 + 1).
K.OA.4 For any number from 1 to 9, find the number
that makes 10 when added to the given number,
e.g., by using objects or drawings, and record the
answer with a drawing or equation.
K.OA.5 Fluently add and subtract within 5.
This week in reading we are:
RF.K.4 Read emergent-reader texts with purpose
and understanding.
RIK.2 With prompting and support, identify the main
topic and retell key details of a text.
SLK.2 Confirm understanding of a text read aloud or
information presented orally or through other media.
L.K.6 Use words and phrases acquired through
conversations, reading and being read to, and
responding to texts.

Dear Parents,

Well, we didnt win the Garden Grant from Moes
Southwest Grill and the Poe health Center, but it was
very close! We were on 20 votes behind. Because it
was such a close competition, Moes has generously
offered to give is $500 for our garden! We will be
planting our first tree to begin the garden on May 23
(Fun in the Sun day) at lunch time. Much of the
construction work will have to be done over the
summer, but at least the children will get to see some
progress this year. Its been a long time coming, but its
finally going to happen!

TIME CAPSULES!!!!!!
ALL Time Capsules will be due on Friday, May 30. We
will add some things from the classroom and seal them
the following week. We seal them in such a way that
you will NOT be able to open them to add to them. So,
please, if you havent already started gathering things
do it NOW. If you have any questions, dont hesitate to
call, text, or email me. I believe that this is such a
special thing for students and it is very important to me
that every student has a Time Capsule to take home.

We would like all moms to join us for Muffins for Mom in
our classroom on Friday, May 9
th

from 8:45-9:30am (floating). The
children have been working very
hard a special gift for you.

things get too chaotic with end of the year activities.
