I. Explanation: What specific knowledge, skills, and belief systems
do I have that demonstrate my competence for this PL!

children should be positively guided and conde!ned' leaving the! &ith a sense of guilt
and sha!e.
#here are several &ays to guide a child for each situation such as the use of redirection$
logical conse(uence$ conflict resolution reflective$ responsive state!ents$ and )-
!essages.
#here are also &ays to appropriately correct behavior &ithout !isguiding or labeling the
child as being &rong$ bad or out of control. ) believe that if you give a child ability to
have control over their decision there not really learning ho& to proble! solve$ and
recogni*e their o&n s%ills and acco!plish!ents &hen they overco!e their proble!s.

II. "rowth: #ow do these artifacts demonstrate my growth in
knowledge and skill!
The guidance scenarios demonstrate my growth in knowledge and skill by being able to
support, nurture, and guide a child that would positively benefit him/her. In my CH!
"## class I learned that different cultures have different values and beliefs when it comes
to sociali$ation, guidance, and especially discipline.
I belief it is important to value and respect other cultures beliefs, and my %ob is to make
sure the child is not hurt, harmed or in any danger.
&or my photo %ournal I have included photos taken during my teacher in charge pro%ect
where I have to use guidance techni'ues for children who were trying to run through a
hula hoop I was holding. I had to let the children know that it(s a safety concern if they
run because they could get hurt and in%ured.
III. $pplication: #ow am I going to b%ild on the knowledge and skills
that are demonstrated &In other words, what are yo%r next steps!' and
how will the knowledge, skills, or belief systems be integrated into my
f%t%re teaching practice.
) proper way for me to build on my knowledge is to guidance techni'ues with my own
child.
I will also continue to empower my skills and abilities by using them while volunteering/
substituting in various early head start/ preschool classrooms.
I understand children don(t all react the same way, so my focus would be finding the
proper solution for each child.
I will also communicate with parents so I know their methods they use at home for their
child* this way well be on one accord.
