Material/!uipment Nee"e": 'nough copies to make one book "or each child in the class& enough
construction paper to make "ront and back pumpkin co%er& Pieces o" yarn "or each book& and crayons "or the
children to color!

-( will "irst introduce the acti%ity during circle time& ( will show the book to the children and tell them they will
be getting one o" their own during small group time!
-)'ach o" your books has a pumpkin attached& we get to mo%e these pumpkins through the book& and put them
di""erent places as we read together!)
-)When we are "inished reading our book together we can color in each page!)
-$"ter each child has sat down at the table and has their book& ( will start by asking& *Who knows what a title
is+) ( will read the title to them& and we will begin the book!

to turn the pages& and how many pages we turn at a time!
-While ( read to them& ( will encourage them to put their pumpkins on the correct places in their books!

-(" one child is putting their pumpkin on the correct spot and another is not& ( will ask the student to help the
other put the pumpkin where it needs to go!
-While the children are coloring their books ( will encourage them to retell the story to each other!

- While they are coloring their books ( will let them know they ha%e 5 minutes to "inish coloring be"ore it is
time to clean up and mo%e on!
-When it is time to clean up ( will ha%e each o" the children put the crayons they were using back in the cups&
and put their books in their cubby-s

and they will be able to pick what area they want to go!
