gamedrivenbyaformula,onethatifaccountedfortherightwaywouldpayoffintheend.An
experimentthatifrecreatedsuccessfullywouldensurepersonalfulfilmentatafundamentallevel.
GrowingupIwasanoutstandingchild.NotbecauseIheldprevalenceovermypeers,but
becauseIwasdifferent.EnteringtheUnitedStatesbeingmonthsoldIgrewuplikeanyother"normal"
child.Thequotesaroundtheconceptofnormalityemerged25daysaftermyeighteenthbirthday,
September24th.Arguablythedarkestdayinmylife.ThedayIrealizedhowmyabnormalitypossessed
thepowertostructuretheunravelingyearsofmylife.
Ineachandeveryoneofourlivestherearemotives,thingsthatguideusandleadustoactthe
waywedo.Inmycasemymotivewasthegeneralideaofsuccess.Anidiosyncrasyatthetimetheidea
ofsuccesshadanincrediblycomplextranslationintherealworld.Aschildrenweweretoldtogetgood
grades,gotocollege,anddoasmuchaswecantoensureweareapttocompeteinthemarketthatis
theadultworld.Thisintermwouldeventuallymakeussuccessfulindividuals.
Success,atitsmostfundamentallevelmeansnothingmorethanitsliteraldefinitionthe
accomplishmentofanaimorpurpose.However,whenanalyzedatadeeperlevelitselusivesubliminal
aspectsbeingtosurface.Ponderingitspuzzlingintricacieshassinceallowedmeto,inasense,builda
foundationthroughthechoicesImake.ThiswasuntilthedayIrealizedthatlifeisnotfair.Inaworldof
havesandhavenotsIwasclassifiedasthelatter.
ShortlyafterstartingmyfreshmanyearofcollegeIwasinformedthatthescholarshipIhad
earnedbyenrollinginrigorousclassesanddoingmybesttoexcelinthemhadbeenterminatedduetoa
deficiency.Ihadntdoneanythingwrong,yetduetothefactthatIwasnotborninthecountryIwas
deemedunworthyofreceivingthebenefitofapaideducation.Note,itwasascholarshipIhadearned,
strippedbyanobscureclausewiththeabilitytodictatemyfuture.
SittinginmycarthatdayIthoughttomyself,howdidIgethere?Thenewswasareminderthat
lifeisntfair.ItputthingsintoperspectivemakingmeanalyzeeverydecisionImadeatthatpointinmy
life.AtthatpointitdidntmatterwhetherIoptedtotakeanAPclassinhighschool,northefactthati
workeda35+hourworkweektohelpoutwiththerent.September24thmademereevaluatemylife
upthatpoint.ItbegunadownwardspiralonlyIcouldcontrol.SittinginmycarIsawthateverything
wasuptome.
AfterasleeplessnightofreflectionIbegantoquestionnearlyeveryaspectofmylife.Thefact
thatIwasdeemedunworthyofafreeeducationduetotheplotoflandIwasconceivedonburrowed
deepintomyconscience.AtthatpointtheunfairnessofacruelworldsettledandIhadaclearvisionof
thestepsIhadtotakeontheroadtomyfulfillment.Thevesselofmyjourneywouldenumerateitselfas
atrichotomyconsistingofservice,education,andleadership.
InmypursuitoffulfillmentIwillhavetoascertainahighereducation,becomingascholarasI
zealouslyrefinetheoresknowledgeIreapfromtheveinsofwisdom.SimultaneouslyIwillhaveto
improveuponmyselfthroughleadershipandservice.Traitsthatwillbeactualizedwhileservinginthe
militarywhereIpaymydebtstotheunyieldinggiantthathasgivenmethelittlethatIhave.
IneighteenyearsIhavelearnedthatonehasindirectcontroloverwhoheisabletobecome.
ThegameoflifeisnotassimpleasIhadonceimaginedittobe.Successtheaccomplishmentofan
aimorpurposemeansexactlywhatthedefinitionstates.Inmycasemyaimtomakesomethingwith
thetimeIvebeengiven,mypurposetotoovercometheobstaclesIampresentedwith.Giventheright
opportunitythefinalanalysisoflifemyfulfillment,justasmyjourney,willenumerateitselfasa
