REFLECTIONS

Competency 001: The principal knows how to shape campus culture by
facilitating the development, articulation, implementation, and stewardship of a
vision of learning that is shared and supported by the school community.

Successes
Successfully created the Campus
Improvement Plan (CIP) with the
campus principal.
Attended weekly administrative
team meetings, and shared ideas
on how to create buy-in from
staff.
Trained all new teachers on
campus on the district Building
Better Relationships model for
classroom management.
Goals
Continue working with the other
administrative team members to
create a positive school climate.
Brainstorm new ideas to reduce
the percentage of teacher
rollover.
Develop a menu of staff
incentives to recognize staff
members for their commitment to
the campus vision.


Competency 002: The principal knows how to communicate and collaborate with all
members of the school community, respond to diverse interests and needs, and mobilize
resources to promote student success.

Successes
Participated in numerous
Student Intervention Team
meetings for all grade levels.
Facilitated new teacher
meeting.
Facilitated state mandated
System Safeguards meetings.

Goals
Facilitate more staff meetings
to become more comfortable
with speaking to large groups.
Learn how to support teachers
through conflicts.
Develop community building
activities to increase the
relations between the
community and the school.

Competency 003: The principal knows how to act with integrity, fairness, and in an ethical
and legal manner.

Successes
Provided information
regarding student behavior
concerns during IEP staffings.
Helped plan the campus
multicultural parade.
Mentored a first year teacher.

Continue to mentor teachers
and build positive
relationships with the staff.

that affect schools.

Competency 004: The principal knows how to facilitate the design and implementation of
curricula and strategic plans that enhance teaching and learning; ensure alignment of
curriculum, instruction, resources, and assessment; and promote the use of varied
assessments to measure student performance.

grade math team planning
sessions.
Attended reading and
language arts vertical team
meetings.
Provided support to the fifth
grade SSI students who did
not meet standard on the
reading STAAR.

my knowledge of Balanced

Competency 005: The principal knows how to advocate, nurture, and sustain an
instructional program and a campus culture that are conducive to student learning and staff
professional growth.

Conducted classroom

Monitoring application.
Assisted three teachers who
were on TINAs with classroom
management and student
engagement strategies.

Continue to support teachers
who have difficulty either with
instruction or classroom
management.

determine how to best support
teachers.
Continue to work to ensure all
decisions are aligned with the
campus goal.

Competency 006: The principal knows how to implement a staff evaluation and
development system to improve the performance of all staff members, select and
implement appropriate models for supervision and staff development, and apply the legal
requirements for personnel management.

the progress of achieving the

management in relation to campus budgeting, personnel, resource utilization, financial
management, and technology use.

Strive to ensure that spending
is aligned with the campus

incorporate the use of

will be able to be visible in
classes as often as possible.

Competency 009: The principal knows how to apply principles of leadership and
management to the campus physical plant and support systems to ensure a safe and
effective learning environment.

Attended a meeting with the
campus principal, assistant
principal, and district
superintendent of security.
Assisted with creating the
campus crisis drill procedures.
Assisted with monthly crisis
and fire drills.

Goals
Ensure that all campus
decisions are legal.
Monitor school grounds daily
to look for safety concerns.
Familiarize myself with crisis
management plans.
