Students will form half-circle, listen to instructions/demonstrations N/A 1-2 min Skill Demo. & Explanation: Chest pass-2 hands on ball, push the ball away from your chest to designated target/player.
Students will be divided into groups of 4 after skill and activity 1 is explained Will make adjustments to number of students as needed 5 min Activity 1 and Extensions Students will practice Chest passes throughout this activity. The students in line will pass the ball to the student in front of the line (who will be facing the line) using a chest pass. The student who recieves the pass will then turn to the student adjacent to the line, (who will then slowly jog in a straight line toward the hoop), and perform a chest pass to that student. The student who is adjacent to the line will then finish the route up after recieving the chest pass, and perform a 2 groups of 4 (will adjust as needed) Students will line up, with one student adjacent to the line facing the basketball hoop, on student will stand directly in front of the line, facing the line. 2 students will be in line, both with the Basketballs. To extend this activity, students will keep track of how many baskets they successfully make lay-up and try to make a basket. In rotation, the student who attempted to make a basket will then rotate to the back of the line with the basketball. the student who was facing the line will now be the student who will receive to make a basket, and the student who originally started with the basketball first in line is now facing the line, and the student who was the last in line is now the new chest-passer to start the routine again.
5-7 min Modified game Students will play a game, were teams must complete at least 1 successfull chest pass before scoring. To modify, teams must successfully complete 3 chest passes to their team- mates (no team member may chest pass twice). the last person on the team to recieve a chest pass will have the option to shoot or pass.
