The poem is a standard form poem with no real symbolism.
The poem is talking about the problems that the writer is going through. Sadly, no one is helping him
through his problems and he feels alone, saying "Sometimes when I'm alone I Cry, Cause I am on my own."
He also believes that people do not just help other people, which adds to his pain because no one is
reaching out for him. All he wants is a friend to conde in. "The world moves fast and it would rather pass
by. Then to stop and see what makes one cry"
I think this poem is very true. People nowadays don't care about others, only about themselves. Why is
that? Connection to Brave New World - maybe it is in human nature to be so selsh and to not try and help
those who are down and need assistance.

I choose, I choose the mountain
With all its stress and strain
Because only by climbing
Can I rise above the plane"
This poem is about a man placed in front of two paths; one path leading to "the low lands," and one path
leading to "the mountain." The theme/meaning of the poem is to try and choose the harder and more di!cult
path because, in the end, you'll be better o".
The "low lands" are a symbol of the easier path/choice in life. It is the more straightforward path that most
walk through. The "mountain" is a symbol of the more di!cult path that most do not choose to take to to the
constant "ascension."
This poem is very similar to "The Road Not Taken." Two paths, one easy and one di!cult, and the choice
between the two. Temptation is goading to the easy choice, but the writer is trying to tell the readers that you
need to overcome this temptation because, in the end, the su"ering is worth it. Why do all the successes and
great rewards in life involve one's su"ering before they can achieve it? I have personal experience with this
problem and with this question. When things get tough, it is extremely hard to keep pushing on, and the
"easy" choice seems to sound better and better. Something always pushes me on, the vision of being great.
Maybe that is why this poem is so poetic, it invokes to me a feeling of motivation, and it makes me want to
push on even more.
