Homosexuality
The subject matter is a discussion about Homosexuality. This is an address to the homophobic
blood relations of Homosexual children. The three main ideas I want to review are: Basic Civil Rights;
Science Discovery of the Gay Gene; and the Biblical Stance on Humanity. These ideas are
recommendations for families who have homosexual children going through the difficulties of sexuality.
Basic Civil Rights for homosexuality is easily manipulated or not discussed because unlike race,
gender, age, ethnicity or religion, sexual orientation is not a protected characteristic under current federal
civil rights law, (Civil Rights 101, http://www.civilrights.org/resources/civilrights101/sexualorientation.html). As
history goes, homosexuals have been beaten by people who believe homosexuality is a sin against God.
Also to others, it's a disgusting choice that draws embarrassing remarks from important Church figures and
families who are homophobic in their communities.
For example, in 1969, the same decade that saw the Civil Rights movements led by Martin Luther
King, Jr. and Malcolm X, there were riots in Greenwich Village, who also wanted to win the rights to have
sexual orientation protected along with the other Civil Rights. If age, gender, ethnicity, etc. were protected,
why not sexual orientation?
If we look at the movie Philadelphia, Tom Hanks plays Andrew Beckett who works for a law firm
but he later finds out that he has AIDS. When his employers found out, he was wrongfully fired because of

his illness. Not only because of him having AIDS, but also because of his sexual orientation: for being gay.
So he hires a lawyer to represent him in court against his former employer.
This movie represents the violation of sexual orientation as well as a violation the Americans with
Disabilities Act since AIDS falls under it as one of the disabilities. The ADA also protects citizens who
may not be HIV/AIDS infected but who are affiliated with someone who has it from being fired from a job.
Certain percentages in todays society still believe that HIV/AIDS is still a homosexual disease.
In Russia, President Vladimir Putin passed a law on June 30, 2013, stating that homosexuals or
anyone doing homosexual propaganda will be fined and imprisoned. Innokenty Grekov wrote an article
called Russias Anti-Gay Law, Spelled Out in Plain English, explaining Russias political views on
Homosexuality. Mr. Grekov quotes Article 6.21 from the law: Propaganda is the act of distributing
information among minors that 1) is aimed at the creating nontraditional sexual attitudes, 2) makes
nontraditional sexual relations attractive, 3) equates the social value of traditional and nontraditional sexual
relations, or 4) creates an interest in nontraditional sexual relations.
According to Gay Marriage Laws in Utah on http://marriage.laws.com/gay/state-laws/utah, Utah
has banned the same sex marriage causing outrage and being challenged in court. In 2005, Utah had a bill
introduced stating that homosexual couples are allowed to have the same benefits as heterosexual couples.
Unfortunately, the U.S. Senate defeated the bill. Since the Senate had defeated the bill, homosexual couples
were denied the right to be married; and with no legal recognition, homosexual pairs dont have the
protected rights that are given to the heterosexual couples.
Americans are caught up in that too. My opinion is that if a couple of the same sex is in love and
wants to get married, then the couple should have the right to be married. According to the Census Bureau

on a report that was released Tuesday, September 27, 2011 that states that an estimate of 131,729 same-sex
couple households and 514,735 same-sex unmarried partner households are in the U.S. as of 2010.
And there has been research, a study in the American Psychological Association website written by
C. Munsey in 2010, which children adopted into these homosexual households are as well-adjust as the
children adopted in heterosexual households. This follows the similar patterns of gender association,
according to psychology professor Charlotte J. Patterson. She, with co-authors Rachel Farr and Stephan
Forssell, stated that the children of homosexual couples are virtually no different than the children of
heterosexual couples when they studied 106 families 56 homosexual couples and 50 heterosexual
couples. And there are less reported adoptions of homosexual couples, according to the article, Adopted
children thrive in same-sex households, study shows.
There has been debates about whether homosexuality is a choice or simply genetics. In Born
Gay?, written by Michael Abrams, Dr. Sven Bocklandt has collected DNA from two groups of 15 pairs
of identical twins. In one group, both twins are gay. In the second, one twin is gay, and the other is straight.
Identical twins have the same DNA, but the activity of their genes isn't necessarily the same. The reason is
something called methylation. Where is Carmen Sandiego to help explain Methylation?
Studies and papers are still coming out about the discussion of Methylation. Methylation is a
biochemical encoded into our DNA turning off certain sections in our genetic code. It fights off infections
and environmental toxins. But if there is an increase of an infection or environmental toxin than it could
handle, then methylation decreases as the toxin/infection that it supposed to fight off runs rampant. The list
below of infections/environmental toxins that Methylation Defects are tied to:

Does the explanation of science change the thinking on Homosexuality? In my opinion, it does
because it explains that homosexuality isnt just a choice but something that theyre born with. As opinions
go, everyone is entitled to theirs. Especially when it involves my fellow Christians who have varying views
of Homosexuality.

In the opinion of the article of The Bible Does NOT Condemn Homosexuality, the bible rarely
talks about homosexuality. The article clearly states that Christians who judge homosexuals do not have a
clear understanding on what God is explaining. Drinking too much, lie, or lust is considered the few sins
that the article discusses that everyone does have an understanding on that dont coincide with
homosexuality: Distinction between social drinking and drinking too much; telling a white lie and
chronically lying; and thinking a lustful thought comparatively to committing adultery. So God doesnt
condemn Homosexuality.
In the opinions of authors Innocent Himbaza, Benedict Guevin, Jean-Baptiste Edart, and Adrian
Schenker, who wrote The Bible on the Question of Homosexuality, state that even though the gospels in
the New Testament have nothing to say about homosexuality is sometimes interpreted as indicating that
Jesus approves of homosexuality.
For example of this theory, recent studies have backed it with: When Jesus had entered Capernaum,
a centurion came to him, asking for help. Lord," he said, "my servant lies at home paralyzed, suffering
terribly." Jesus said to him, "Shall I come and heal him?" The centurion replied, "Lord, I do not deserve to
have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed. For I myself am a man
under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell this one, 'Go,' and he goes; and that one, 'Come,' and he
comes. I say to my servant, 'Do this,' and he does it." When Jesus heard this, he was amazed and said to
those following him, "Truly I tell you, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith. I say to you
that many will come from the east and the west, and will take their places at the feast with Abraham, Isaac
and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven. But the subjects of the kingdom will be thrown outside, into the
darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth." Then Jesus said to the centurion, "Go! Let it
be done just as you believed it would." And his servant was healed at that very hour. (Matthew 8:5 13).

When Jesus had finished saying all this to the people who were listening, he entered
Capernaum. There a centurion's servant, whom his master valued highly, was sick and about to die.
The centurion heard of Jesus and sent some elders of the Jews to him, asking him to come and heal
his servant. When they came to Jesus, they pleaded earnestly with him, "This man deserves to have
you do this, because he loves our nation and has built our synagogue." So Jesus went with them. He
was not far from the house when the centurion sent friends to say to him: "Lord, don't trouble
yourself, for I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. That is why I did not even consider
myself worthy to come to you. But say the word, and my servant will be healed. For I myself am a
man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell this one, 'Go,' and he goes; and that one, 'Come,'
and he comes. I say to my servant, 'Do this,' and he does it." When Jesus heard this, he was amazed
at him, and turning to the crowd following him, he said, "I tell you, I have not found such great faith
even in Israel." Then the men who had been sent returned to the house and found the servant well.
(Luke 7:1 10).
The discussion topic is to address to families of Homosexual children. The mains ideas that are
reviewed are: Basic Civil Rights; Science Discovery of the Gay Gene; and the Biblical Stance on
Humanity. These ideas are recommended for children who are going through the difficulties of sexuality
and explanations to their families.
