Use of EVMs at simultaneous elections
Two separate sets of EVM s required
Identification Stickers & tags to be different in colour
For Lok sabha - White colour
For Assembly elections - Pink colour
In control unit - Stickers will be pasted indicating Lok sabha
and Assembly election as the case may be
In Ballot unit the ballot paper colour itself will be the
identity
Use of EVMs at simultaneous elections
To be emphasized during training to polling personnel
The polling agents of that particular segment alone needs to sign on
the paper seal / tag of the relevant Control unit
Connecting the corresponding CU and BU should be emphasized
For conduct of poll
TWO separate voting compartments indicating in bold letters
Only one voter register (17A Register) is used
But we use two voter slips, separate slips printed for each category of
election
Only one marked copy is used
The polling party will have one Pr.Off. and 5 Polling officers
PO-4 will be in charge of control unit of PC
PO-5 will be in charge of control unit of AC & ensure the intactness of
indelible ink of the voter
All other duties and procedures is similar to what is done
during any election
Role of ALMTs
Arrange for training of Polling personnel of polling station and Zonal officers in
coordination with Polling personnel Nodal officer and Zonal officer Nodal officer
As ALMTs you are responsible for training the Zonal officers on his work relating
to polling personnel training
Training on other duties of zonal officer would be given by nodal officer for zonal officers
Training on EVM would be given by nodal officer for EVMs
Also ensure that the Zonal officers in turn train the Polling personnel
Training of Zonal officers and followed by training of Polling personnel by Zonal
officers should be completed as scheduled before end of February
Ensure training is given in groups of not more than 50 to 60 trainees
Role of ALMTs
The ALMTs and the concerned subject Nodal officer should join together and
impart training to zonal officers.
First session: Role of zonal officer (to be given by nodal officer or back up nodal officer for
zonal officers)
Second session: EVM training (to be given by nodal officer or back up nodal officer for
EVMs)
Third and fourth sessions: Training module for polling personnel (i.e. this module) (to be
given by ALMTs
In the polling personnel preparatory training the Pr.Off and PO1 should be given
training on the following 3 aspects
1. EVM familiarity and EVM - hands on training
2. Filling up of necessary forms which will be used during poll day (dummy forms
3. The mock exercise of situations that may happen in polling station on poll day
