The Fallen Dictator
Adolf Hitlers unrighteous and psychotic dictatorship and the rise of Hitler
resulted in the loss of many innocent lives. Many would assume ignorance and racism
would lead to this devolved mechanism. However, Hitlers attempt to create the perfect
race could also be the result of psychological imbalances controlling his actions.
Interestingly, Adolf was born on April 20, 1889 in Austria.
Adolf had a family like everyone else, but his family was a little different than
others. Adolf was one amongst five siblings, but only one lived past childhood. Although
Hitlers parents were able to manage a fairly comfortable lifestyle, Adolf grew up with
his fathers bad temper and aggressive nature dominating his household. During Adolfs
early childhood years, teachers were complimenting his overall behavior and academic
performance. When Hitlers father decided to enroll him into a school of technology and
science, his interest in education slowly faded. Hitler began to act resentful and
discontented towards his alcoholic father, who eventually passed away. Adolf was deeply
attached to his caring and hard working mother, who was in a battling the deadly disease
cancer. By the age of 16, Adolf had decided not to carry on further with his studies. Since
his dad was dead and nobody could tell him what to do, he started painting and drawing.
Couple years later another life changing moment happened to Hitler. His mom Klara
Hitler died from cancer when Adolf was nineteen and from then onwards he had no

relatives willing or able to support him (Second World War). Adolf Hitlers childhood
losses could have played a role psychologically and emotionally later in his lifetime.
A few years later, trying to find himself and his dream, Hitler moved to Vienna
with inspiring dreams of becoming a painter, but kept on getting rejected. Having no high
school diploma which is required, Hitler couldnt get accepted in arts school. Being
rejected admission to the Academy of Fine Arts twice shaped a pathological hatred
towards Marxists. Also in 1908 is when Hitler and started hating Jews. He believed that a
Jewish professor had rejected his art and that his mom died because of Jewish doctor.
Him hating Jews changed his whole life. He lived in homeless shelters and ate at soup
kitchen, and wouldnt take a real job, just survived of his paintings. Also, he made a
friend named August Kubizek who was also trying to become a musician. Kubizek
described Hitler as violent and high strung. Hitler remained homeless for a couple
years and lived solely by selling his time and effort consuming artwork for so little.
Living in Viennas poverty fueled his hatred towards Jews, which concluded they were
the cause of all corruption, chaos, and obliteration is the community. His five years of
Vienna was all hardship and misery and he blames the Jews for it. When he was planning
to leave Vienna he decided to go into the army. Hitler then left Vienna to serve as a
dispatch runner in Munich when war broke out. Once recovered after being injured badly
twice, Hitler believed his life purpose was to condemn the Treaty of Versailles. By 1921,
Hitler had imposed himself as the chairman of German Workers Party, which was a
powerful upcoming small group.
While Hitler was in control of Germany, he had a large effect on the world. This
is because he was an exceptional leader at a time. He helped to improve Germanys

economy and military. He also added a lot of property to the borders of Germany, and the
majority of the people under his rule came together in national unity and saw him as a
potential leader. People started to look up to him and saw him as their leader. Hitler knew
that he could start taking over since he had the people with him and thats what he started
to do.
While, having control of Germany, Hitler started to abuse his power and Hitler
then began to misinterpret the Treaty of Versailles, and began to form his army called the
Nazis to help him achieve a supreme Aryan race. Hitler discovered a powerful talent for
oratory as well as giving the new Party its symbol swastika and its greeting Heil
(Jewish Virtual Library). He gave his army the Swastika, a Hindu symbol because of
prosperity of his army. In 1913, when World War II broke out, Hitler retreated and signed
a non-aggression pact with Soviet Russia. Despite, the agreement, Hitler fearlessly
continued to invade the territories. Hitlers psychological state resulted in a catastrophe
called Final Solution of the Jewish Question. In 1918 he was blinded by a gas attack
before the war had ended. While recovering from the attack, Germany had surrender,
which was against Hitlers choice. This is where Hitler had grown hate for the Jewish
race even more.
He felt that the Jewish people had stabbed Germany in the back. Hitler said that
night, In these nights after Germanys surrender had been announced, hatred grew in
me, hatred for those responsible for this deed. What was all the pain in my eyes compared
to this misery (History Learning Site). He was really sad about Germany surrendering
and blamed the Jews for it. According to Hitler, the solution to all conflicts was
extermination of the entire Jewish race. Jews were ruthlessly taken from their homes and

imprisoned in concentration camps. Once imprisoned, the helpless Jews were killed in
massive quantities. Many concentration camps managed to murder 100,000 a day without
a care. Deaths were caused by gas chambers disguised as showers, starvation, firing
shots, and diseases.
In 1942, when the United States entered the war, Hitler sensed impending doom
realizing his army was not strong enough. By this time, Hitlers health was declining and
barely supporting him. Hitler suffered from numerous health problems as well as
amphetamine addiction. On April 30, 1945, Adolf Hitler had committed suicide by taking
a pill and shooting him and his wife Eva with a pistol. By May 2
nd
, after taking over 6
million innocent lives, Hitlers dictatorship had officially come to an end and the Nazi
Party was officially over.
The death of Hitler did not come as a shock due to the number of psychological
disorders he was suffering. It is highly probable Hitler suffered from paranoid
schizophrenia, resulting in the assassination of his generals due to mistrust. They say
that In the decades since Hitlers death many commentators have concluded that he must
have been mentally ill, and that if he wasnt when he started his rule the pressures of his
failed wars must have driven him mad (Wilde). It is also believed he developed
narcissistic personality disorder throughout his lifetime. A Study suggests that The Axis
I diagnosis of Adolf Hitler is Schizoaffective Disorder of the Bipolar Type (Kenworthy).
Adolfs personality disorder caused his excessive need of self-importance, power, and
preoccupation with himself. Hitlers lack of empathy stole the lives of millions. As a
result of his childhood losses, Adolf showed no compassion of a estrange mother, sister,
or brother dying.

Life events are major life changes that occur at significant points in an
individuals life such as marriage, divorce, and death. For Hitler, it led him to major life
changes and extremely stressful situations. The ability to understand and configure
mental health is extremely important. As a child, Hitler was estranged from love,
compassion, and support. Growing up with an alcoholic father and coward mother taught
Adolf what power, control, and superiority is. Hitlers actions are not justified, but
mental illness has played a major role in the horrific Holocaust.
