Rhetorical Analysis
Coca Cola has seen many profitable years because of their ability to sell their
products. Coca cola has evolved over the years that now they use their commercials to
sell not only their products but to also deliver a message to American consumers. They
found that people want to feel a sense of belonging to the company. This commercial,
America the Beautiful, really illustrates a message of belonging but also manages to
stay with the main purpose of the commercial, which is to sell their product.
The commercials credibility is that these are Americans that are singing this
song, America the Beautiful. They have the same freedoms to sing this song because
they are Americans. This commercial has the credibility because it is coca cola and they
have high sells. This is why they might be a little bias because they are trying to make
profit. This is also a professional nationally shown commercial. The scenery was from
all around the United States. This scenery made the commercial more honest and real
to the audience.
This commercial really conveys plenty of emotion for the audience. The audience
will really feel for the children singing the song. The children singing America the
Beautiful appeals to American hearts because it is very patriotic. This gives the
audience a deeper appreciation for the coca cola company. The audience feels
something more for the

company so that it makes people want to buy their product. In some cases if the
audiences sees more than the basic purpose of the commercial, then they become to
feel loyal to the product.
The message is being directed to the people mostly who feel that people of other
ethnicity dont belong in the United States. America is a widely diverse country and it
has different ethnicities and races but we are all proud Americans, and Coca Cola is just
one factor that helps try to bring everyone together. The video has sense of unity that
really brings light to this very controversial topic.
The topic of legalization of different ethnicities in America has been a difficult
topic. The commercial really touches with the cultural aspect of the United States and
thats where the problem occurs. Most people are afraid of what they dont know.
People coming from other countries might have a different culture than we do, so many
Americans feel scared of that. Our culture is based off the normal of what we do and
see everyday. When something different comes around we tend to shun, hate, or be
scared of the idea. Most Americans have no idea what other cultures are like so thats
why when it is brought here we dont embrace it. This commercial is socially bringing
this issue to the light. Its being presented in a positive way with the children singing the
same song.The children even sing part of the song in different languages. This makes
people want to watch the commercial and really think about the message a little more.
The audience for this commercial is the American people. This is a nationally
shown commercial and it is for everyone to see. Playing the commercial during the

was a great way for most Americans to watch it. Although this is a coca cola
advertisement, the commercial has a bigger meaning that is directed more toward
young and older adults. The commercial has a message that younger children would
not understand.
This commercial when you first watch it has a beautiful message. Though, the
main purpose for the commercial is to sell coca cola. The commercial throughout has
people
drinking coca cola and laughing and having fun. This is because they dont want you to
lose the whole purpose for the commercial, which is to buy coca cola. The commercial
could be about anything, but the main reason to even produce an advertisement is to
sell the product. The ones giving the message are the children in the commercial. The
children being the ones to send the message in the commercial was a smart idea
because it makes people think about this topic for the future. The children conveying the
message make the commercial more open and light hearted for the audience to watch.
People assume that others from different countries are familiar with America.
The commercial is an American commercial and mostly Americans view it. The
audience identifies the commercial the be a coca cola because of the commercials
ending with the logo.The advertisement also assumes that the audience will know that
some of the scenery is real and very famous in the United States like the Grand Canyon
and the Great Lake. The commercials claim is a more implicit argument because if it
was more about the topic of cultural unity than it would be explicit. The commercial is
shown to be about the unity and the beauty of American but the main reason or the
commercial is to sell their products.

There are no grounds stated in this commercial. Some ground that would help
support the claim would be if they showed information about how America is becoming
more diverse. This commercial is very assumption based because there isnt any other
information except a song and visuals.There is also no qualifier for the commercial. The
commercial says nothing but sings a song to the audience.
The claim in this commercial is drink coca cola if you want to be happy and
diverse. Well, the warrant in the commercial is implicit because they only show people
who accept the claim. The warrant would be that not everyone wants to be happy and
diverse, so if you dont want to be diverse than dont drink coca cola. Some people do
not want to be diverse, like conservative Americans. Most conservative Americans think
that english should be the only language spoken in America so they would not support
this claim at all. This is where most of the controversy comes in because some citizens
see other people of other ethnicities as not being a natural born citizen. Author Kathy
Gills artical, What Does It Mean To Be A Natural Born Citizen, states, The 14th
Amendment to the Constitution defines citizenship this way: "All persons born or
naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of
the United States and of the State wherein they reside." Just because someone is of a
different race doesnt mean that they arent an American and doesnt have the same
privileges as other citizens.
The time and age that this commercial was produced and shown I think was the
right time. Society and the view and opinions of American citizens has changed enough
for this commercial to even be received. Back in the 1940s and 1950s this commercial

wouldnt be received at all. Now this commercial is being received in a more positive
way, but there still some negative controversy. Coca Cola was trying to show how the
diversity in America is beautiful. Author Judith Treass article, Diversity and Our
Common Future: Race, Ethnicity, and the Older American, states, race and ethnicity
may become merely symbolic or optional. At least for some of us, race and ethnicity no
longer determine our everyday interactions or life prospects, but we still heartily
embrace this identity on some
occasions. In the future racial differences will almost have is disappeared. This
commercial was shown in this year that now we embrace each other more warm and
openly. Times have changed and so has America.
