A raw score is generated first, and then a scaled score range is produced on the 200-800 scale. The range indicates the scores you would receive if you took another practice test under the same circumstances, with no additional preparation. Your essay is read by two readers, who each assign a holistic score on a 1-6 scale. Those two scores are added together for a total essay score between 2 and 12. If the two readers' scores differ by more than one point, however, a third reader is brought in to ensure an accurate score. This test is from the College Board; it is the best approximation available of an actual new SAT. The College Board and college admissions offices understand that any given SAT score is not 100% precise; it represents a range of scores that the student is likely to achieve upon repeat testing. This is especially true for a New SAT practice test like this one, since there is not yet a history of the test having been taken by thousands of students. Your "likely score" is a single scaled score you can use for easier comparison between sections and between practice tests. It is often, but not always, the midpoint of the scaled score range. The raw score is calculated by adding 1 point for each question answered correctly and subtracting 1/4 point for each multiple choice problem answered incorrectly. There is no adjustment to your raw score due to blank questions or incorrect Grid-Ins. You can quickly identify your incorrect answers and how they are clustered on the exam, because the section and number are highlighted in red. In the Your Answer column you will see one of the following: a + indicates that you answered the question correctly; a - indicates that you left the question blank; a letter A-E or a number indicates your incorrect answer (the correct answer is in the column to the left). The Subject (Math), Item Type and Difficulty analyses allow you to see your relative performance in the different question subjects and types. The Raw column tells you your net raw points for that row. The % of Possible column is your raw points divided by the total raw points possible on those questions. For example, if you achieved 13 raw points on the 19 Sentence Completion questions, then your % of Possible would be 13/19 or 68%. It is natural to see a decline in % of Possible as the difficulty level of the problems increases. However, steep drop-offs in the percentages (more than 50% in one level) or negative percentages are strong indications of problems with timing or testing strategy. A negative percentage, for example, means that you actually lowered your raw score by attempting that set of problems. Solutions vary. You may need to attempt fewer problems and concentrate on getting more correct; you may need to learn more about the trick answers that often are placed in the hard sections; or you may need to practice enough so that you have adequate time to do justice to the more difficult questions. If you have any questions about your scores, interpreting this report, the questions you got wrong, or how you can improve, please call Compass Education Group. * SAT is a registered trademark of the College Board, which was not involved in the production of, and does not endorse this product. page 3 of 7 226 S Beverly Dr., Suite 200 Beverly Hills, CA 90212 (800) 925-1250 (310) 388-1114 (fax) Student Armance Sherman Exam SG1-QF0 Date 2/23/2014 Compass SAT Practice Test Critical Reading Report Critical Reading Score Range Likely Score 710 ---- 770 740 200 300 400 500 600 700 800 Answer Breakdown Section Question Correct Your Answer Difficulty Type 2 1 A + 1 Sent Comp 2 2 B + 2 Sent Comp 2 3 A + 3 Sent Comp 2 4 D + 3 Sent Comp 2 5 C B 3 Sent Comp 2 6 D + 1 Crit Read -
