Setting Up National Instruments myDAQ on Windows

This document outlines installing the Elvis software on a Windows PC. Every student needs to download
the NI ELVISmx software, install it on your laptop, and bring your laptop to class. Failure to do this may
result in not being able to perform the laboratory exercises.
NOTE: For Mac users, you will need to either run your system in the dual boot mode for Windows or
you will need to download the software, Oracle VirtualBox, in order for the NI software to work. There
are other software packages available that will enable you to run the NI ELVISmx software, but the two
listed methods are proven to work.
1. Download NI Elvismx: http://joule.ni.com/nidu/cds/view/p/id/3050/lang/en (1.6 GB)
2. Launch NIELVISMX44.exe and it will extract the installation to C:\National Instruments
Downloads\NI-ELVIS\NIELVIS444.

3. You may be prompted to install Microsoft .NET Framework 4.

4. If the Elvis installer does not launch automatically, navigate to and launch C:\National
Instruments Downloads\NI-ELVIS\NIELVIS444\autorun.exe

5. Click through the remaining screens to install the program.

6. Finished installing ELVISmx! The program should be under StartProgramsNational
InstrumentsNI ELVISmx for NI ELVIS & NI myDAQNI ELVISmx Instrument Launcher

7. If the above is working you can safely clean up the installation folders and files.
