I will introduce these items at the beginning of the small group lesson time or circle time. This way, the children
will be prepared to handle the objects and enjoy the new items right after I explain them.

There are not any special rules aside from not to hurt one another with the items and to not open the coffee cans
or water bottles. I would lie the children to explore and play with the items without many restrictions to learn
more about coral reefs.
!hat do ou hope the children to learn:
I hope the children would dance and mae their own music with their instruments. I would hope the children
would enjoy themselves, and learn to share and cooperate with one another. !urthermore, I hope children can
use their language sills to communicate and sing along. I would hope that they would connect the music to the
thematic unit and learn more on coral reefs.
!hat are some was that the children can <re#lect= on what the have learned:
Children can reflect on what they have learned while we sing, while we dance and later in the wee with different
activities planned. The different activities will allow children an opportunity to connect one concept with another
area of play. !or example, children will participate in story time, and while reading the story, they will be
reminded of different areas of the classroom. I will encourage reflection by saying things lie, "#hh, in the story
the fish has a home in the rocs. $e have a roc in the bloc area too%&. I would also encourage children to
interact with their parents when they come to pic them up. I will scaffold their conversation by saying things
lie, "'arah, why don(t you show your father the dance you made today)&.
