The Demon of Consumerism
though truthful, comment on American’s disregard for the creation and the creative process. In
his quote, he essentially says that Americans don’t care about the music, so long as they have it,
an idea that is growing progressively truer, especially in today’s society. Americans today care
little about how they receive their music, the process of creation, or the act of creation itself.
Americans, especially teenage Americans, are more concern with the appearance of the musician
or popularity of the music than the quality or creativity of the music itself.
