Nuclear Testing 1945 - 1990

After the end of World War II, the United States of

America and the Soviet Union engaged in a nuclear arms race.
Part of this arms race was the testing of a variety of nuclear
weapons. These tests ranged in size from relatively no yield,
safety tests to the Tsar Bomba that had a 50 to 58 Mt yield.

were conducted at each site. This video shows all of the
testing between 1945 and 1998.

Create a folder titled Nuclear Testing and keep all documents related to this task in that folder.
Share this folder to both your Algebra B and your US History B folders.

A document named Nuclear Testing and a spreadsheet named Nuclear Test Data has been created for
you . The work for all of the following questions will be added to this document.

MATH PORTION
1. Use the data in the table below to create a graph. Place the properly titled and labeled graph in
the document.
2. Look at the time before and after the Cuban Missile Crisis then use GeoGebra to determine if
any of the sections of the graph represent an exponential function.
3. If the data does represent an exponential, determine the equation.
4. If this trend would continue, how many tests would there be the year you graduate?
