Monday:
Introduce vocabulary words for the week: pasture,
scrap, velvet, mandatory, tempting, and provide. Go
over their definitions and have students share out
connections.
Read the story Kiss the Cow. Give students a signal to
do when they hear a vocabulary word.
Stop at the designated stopping points and ask the
questions provided. Also, review the vocabulary words
that were found and their definitions.
Hang the vocabulary words in the back of the room on
the Vocabulary cabinet.
Tuesday:
Review vocabulary words for the week. Go over their
definitions and have students share out connections.
Project an image onto the SMART Board. Have
students discuss why it matches one of the vocabulary
words.
Hang the pictures next to the matching vocabulary
words in the back of the room on the Vocabulary
cabinet after each time.
Wednesday Friday:
Review vocabulary words for the week. Go over their
definitions and have students share out connections.
Hand out activity/assessment sheets. Do the left half
Wednesday and the right half Thursday. Assessment on
the back on Friday.
Read the directions to the students twice. Give time to
answer.
Put away pencils and get out crayons. Partner up and
switch papers to grade. Discuss whole group which
answer is correct and allow students to mark with either
an x or .
Switch back papers.
Formative assessment:

during the lesson.
