The Great Depression Mini Drama is a video project that a group of three students had to act out on camera. The topic was connecting to farmers and their foreclosures during the great depression. Losing farms was widely infamous and was happening all over the country. This video mini drama was interpreting the pain and hard times of a farmers life during the great depression. My First ! "entury s#ill is $%nformation& Media and Technology '#ills.( % use information Literacy )ecause all information made from the video is )rought out from notes& historic videos& documentaries& and the *' +istory te,t)oo# and other online sources. -e have e,cellent media literacy )ecause the project has great use of media literacy. Others can see the stressful emotions the farmers went through with our acting in front of the camera. %nformation& "ommunications& and Technology Literacy involves using a camera. Digital cameras or cell phones in this case are very important. The use of cameras is )uilding the use of technology. -or#ing with a camera teaches us to upload and display our wor# of art into presentations. Learning and %nnovation '#ills are also used in the project. "reativity and innovation is when our very own individuality could )e seen in the video recordings with the way we act and played the role of the farmer. -e are each creative as we try to show our perception of the depression the nations farmers were suffering. "ommunication and colla)oration& in the project& did not only involve the wor# of com)ining three peoples ideas& )ut gave us the chance to connect and to thin# together& communication was very much used and developed with the project )eing a group project and playing the roles of the good and )ad guy. Many techni.ues of ver)al& non/ver)al communication and improvisation were gained with the creation of the Great Depression Mini Drama. -e also have developed life and career s#ills. Leadership is one of our s#ills. Our improvisation s#ills were )est determined with the way we too# charge of the lines we each had to thin# of. Thin#ing of a script is a way of )ecoming a leader in the group. 0lso& improving your s#ills in media and editing and acting is a great way of )uilding leadership. %nitiative and 'elf/Direction/ 'elf/direction is involved with the improvisation portion of the project. Most of the decisions are made )y you for yourself and are ris#y. 1roductivity& )ecause )eing productive is the only option when dealing with a media/ )ased project with technology. Deadlines& and due dates for projects li#e these involve the action of )eing punctual. My acting was never the )est& )ecause % needed to )e louder and needed to add to my lines. % was also not confident with my acting and interpreting the tone of the depression times % was supposed to demonstrate. Our video was low .uality and couldve )een improved )y me& so therefore % should )e more prepared ne,t time. -hat % did )est was plan the project and where it was going to ta#e place. % also )rought in e,cellent props creating the image of a !234s farmer. % will gain more e,perience with technology use in the future )y practicing in my free time.
