Learning Outcomes [ASSURE (State Objectives)]
48 60 months old, kindergarten children will rhythmically count the number from 1 to 10 after this activity.
48 60 months old, kindergarten children will correctly do basic addition and subtraction exercises after this activity.
Instructional Materials & Media [ASSURE (Select Strategies, Technology, Media and Materials)]
Prezi and Obsurvey are used for the activity.
The link of the Prezi is http://prezi.com/enw7figvmoet/?utm_campaign=share&utm_medium=copy&rc=ex0share

Learning-Teaching Methods [ASSURE (Select Strategies, Technology, Media and Materials)]
In order to teach students addition and subtraction, teacher prepares a presentation in Prezi. In this way, children learn what
addition and subtraction are and what their symbols are. During the activity process, with the drill and practice method, children
reinforce their information about this activity. In the activity, teacher also uses a 3D material as manipulative.

Teaching Activities [ASSURE (Utilize Technology, Media, and Materials and Require Learner Participation)]
In order to provide quiet environment in the classroom, teacher starts to activity with a finger game that is;
Sar sar sar makaray (eller birbiri etrafnda evrilir)
z z z makaray (eller tersine evrilir)
yle de byle de ak ak ak (eler rplr)
yle de byle de ak ak ak (eller rplr)
Aslan geliyor, kaplan geliyor, tp. (iaret parma dudaklar stne konur)
After this, teacher shows to children the presentation about addition and subtraction and their symbols. In this way,
children learn what these are and their attention is gained.
After the gaining of attention, teacher shows the squirrel puppets to the children and introduce them to the children. By
referring to the last week, asks to the children what their name is as animal, what their favorite foods are and they talk about this.
If they cannot remember the last week activity, teacher remind them by giving some examples like '' In this activity, we collected
many nuts from the classroom.''. In this way, children remember their information about squirrel and then teacher says to children
that ''These are Hohhop, Zpzp, Bombom. Do you want to say ''hello'' to them?'' After that, these squirrel puppets and whole
children in the classroom meet with each other. Then Hophop starts to tell their lives to children.
I, Bombom and Zpzp are living in a tree hole. Whole day, we are walking in the forest, running, jumping, climbing and
playing in the trees. While doing this, in order to feed, we are picking up nuts from the nut trees. In addition to this, in order to be
comfort in the winter, we have to collect many nuts and keep these in the our tree holes. In the winter, we do not go outside
because of the cold weather, and we are eating nuts that we collect. Because of that, some days we are collecting nuts. For
example, the last day, when I woke up, Bombom and Zpzp's beds were empty and the sun rose. Immediately, I got up from the
bed and washed my hands and face. I wore my clothes and I went to outside. Until to find Bombom and Zpzp, I climbed 5
different tree and collected many nuts. However, I did not count my nuts, can you help me to count the my nuts?
Generally, when such a question was asked to children, they answer this question as ''yes''. After that, teacher shows to
children a 3-D shape that have 3 glasses at the top and as attached to these 3 cylinder cartoon. These glasses' bottom is hole and
in this way, when we throw a nuts from a glasses, this nuts is falling to cylinder and from there to the box that we hold. Its images
became like that:

After showing this box, Hophop says to children how many nuts collect from a branch of a tree and children count these
nuts by collecting in a box. Hophop says one children name for one tree and this child do counting process. For example:
Hophop says;
Rzgar can you help me in the first tree. You should hold this box. First branch of this tree I collected 3 nuts. (Child throw
3 nuts one by one from the glass of first branch and this nut falls the box. In addition to this, if children cannot hold the box the
box can be put the ground or teacher can help to student.) From the middle branch, I collected 1 nut.(Child does again same
process and count the nuts in the box.) Finally, from the last branch I collected 2 nuts.(Child does again same process and say the
number of nuts.) However, one of the nuts was decay and because of that, I threw this from the box. (Child throws one nuts and
count again nuts.)
This process continues until whole children doing same thing. In the every time number of nuts change. According to
student attention, counting process can be done with whole children. At the end of the activity, the nuts are eaten.

Individual Learning Activities

All children will do the addition and subtraction process
individually.
Group Learning Activities

During the presentation, teacher asks some questions to children
as group.

Summary
In the activity process, children will do addition and subtraction exercises and they will learn these concepts.

Measurement & Evaluation
During the activity process, teacher observes children. After the activity, teacher sends a survey which is from Obsurvey via e-mail
to the parents in order to measure their childrens knowledge about this concept.

Measurement & Assessment Activities for Individual
Performance
While children are doing their addition and subtraction exercises
with 3D material, teacher uses checklist in order to measure their
performance.
Measurement & Assessment Activities for Group
Performance
At the end of the activity, teacher asks questions about the activity
and takes note childrens answers.

Homework (optional) After doing this activity, teacher should a letter to parent about what
they do in the classroom today. In addition to that, in this letter,
teacher tells to parent the importance of the counting different
things and doing simple addition and subtraction process. In this
letter, teacher gives some examples about the how they do this in
the daily life. For example, when they preparing table, children can
put the spoon according to number of family member. In this way,
children counting skills can be supported. In the following day,
children can tell their counting experiences that they do in the house.

Explanation
Write the points regarding to the measurement and evaluation which you want to explain. (If any)

Explanation regarding to the implementation of the plan
In case of the Prezi Presentation does not work, teacher can have a hard copy of this presentation and by using + and - symbols,
s/he explains the addition and subtraction concepts.
