Objective (SWBAT): describe Jewish life before the Holocaust in Germany; identify the early stages of persecution
Assessment / Exit Ticket: Document analysis: International Criminal Court (correlates with reader portion of assessment)
Vocabulary/Key Concepts/Word Wall: genocide, bystander, perpetrator, holocaust
Materials / Technology: hand outs (introduction to the holocaust, early stages of persecution) elmo, projector
Modifications / Accommodations: I will give instructions step by step and check for understanding.


Do Now (3-5 minutes)
Silent, short, pen to paper, complete w/out teacher direction, preview or review

Students will complete introduction to the Holocaust handout.





Opening (3-5 minutes)
The Hook, Preview Objective, Connection to Prior Knowledge.
Students will state the lessons objective. We will review definition of the pyramid of hate and who Adolf Hitler was and why he rose to
power.

completing Persecution on the Rise group work. I will give

reading/handout.

must also draw a picture to illustrate the event
and draw a caption to describe the picture. While
doing the assignment students are summarizing
the selection they have read.
