Weekly Schedule
Principals,
Stress: it's everywhere at this time of
year. Not only are we feeling the stress of many
deadlines and projects, our teachers are feeling it,
too. When teachers feel extreme amounts of stress,
they begin to burn out and out of character behaviors
can occur that negatively impact students. We hear
about it every year - folks lose their temper and snap
at students (or worse), teachers don't plan their les-
sons as carefully so off-task behavior increases and so
do office referrals, and so on. In a blog post from
Maurice Elias, a professor at Rutger's University, he
equates it to running a marathon and being at mile 23
when your legs are cramping, your lungs are burning
and your mind is a jumbled mess. He gives 5 sugges-
tions we can share with teachers to help them make it
through the end of the year in ways that are meaning-
ful and enjoyable to both teachers and students and
help us all make it to the finish line.
Idea #1: Reconnect your kids and with your
kids.
Idea #2: Share your interests.
Idea #3: Talk about the summer.
Idea #4: Engage and encourage their aspira-
tions and dreams.
Idea #5: Have some fun.
Where is your campus stress level? What can you do
to lower the stress level?

Regards,
Janet McDade
