Megacity Project- Process Paper

For my project, I first started with my research. As I looked at the databases, I
was able to find useful information off of them. Most of my information was found
through Encyclopedia Britannica, Gale, and Jstor. After I cited them on Noodle Tools, I
made descriptive notecards summarizing the useful information I found. Although I
found information off of the databases, I noticed that they were repetitive and that I did
not have enough of the information needed, so I had to go search in Google for new
information off of other websites. The biggest problem that I faced was finding
information about the government structure of Istanbul.
I created my website the way I did because I like to keep things organized. I did
not want to have random information scattered all along one page of a website; I wanted
the information to fall under a similar categories I stayed with the same font on each page
to make it look organized and had only two colors; one for the title, and one for the
information. Throughout the Internet, I found very unique pictures of my city and I
wanted to incorporate them, so on the main pages I added two pictures on the top, so that
people could look at them. Some pages have more information on them than the others,
so I tried to add extra information or pictures to the pages with the least information.
Istanbul has a long history as a major political city due to its location between
Greece and Syria. Istanbul has undergone significant changes including war, conflicts,
and migration trends to transform it into a megacity. The site and situation of Istanbul
helped create its current megacity. Site is the location on the earth composed of physical
characteristics of the landscape. Istanbul is located partly in Europe and partly in Asia. It

was on the traditional land route between Europe and Asia Minor. It is also surrounded
by the black and Mediterranean Sea and on the Bosporus Strait. Due to its site located on
water, it has become an important megacity. The site of my city helped transformed
Istanbul into the way it is today because of its large amount of land it has been able to
create a large city.
Situation is the location of its place due to its relation to other countrys or cities.
Istanbul has changed drastically due to wars, and a terrible explosion that destroyed most
of the city. The megacity developed when it was rebuilt changing its situation
permanently. Besides the explosion, Istanbul was changed when the Bostans were forced
out of the city due to the change from an agricultural society to an industrial one. The city
is now transformed into a political, social, and economic city due to its changes. These
changes were needed to create a megacity out of Istanbul.
