Essay test preparation:

The essay test will be given Wednesday and Thursday, Oct. 9 & 10, during your
block period. Do not be absent.
Instructions:
-Know the background prior to the writing and ratification of the Constitution in
terms of:
Foundations of democracy (representative government, separation of
powers, social contract theory, etc.)
Failure of democracy under British rule
Failures of the Articles of Confederation
-Know how the framers of the Constitution remedied these problems.
-Know how the Framers preserved the powers of the states and of the individual
(see Articles IV-VII and the Bill of Rights).
-Use your ideas paper, the follow-up implementation notes, lecture notes (post-
period of Salutary Neglect), the Declaration of Independence, the Articles of
Confederation, the Constitution, etc. in your preparation.

Ill give you the essay prompt and the specifics on test day. Get lots of rest the
night before your test.
