Position Description: Program Coordinator

Summary of Position / Key Duties
The JASH Program Coordinator develops and coordinates the schedule of programs, events and fundraisers for
the Japan-America Society of Hawaii (JASH). Responsibilities include overseeing logistical arrangements,
budgeting, preparing notices, press releases, and corresponding with speakers and completing post-program
duties and evaluation. Duties also include updating the JASH website and composing the quarterly JASH
newsletter.

The largest events of the year for this position include our annual Golf Tournament in the Spring; Annual
Dinner in the Fall; and Holiday Gala & Silent Auction in December. This position is also responsible for
coordinating and developing program content and overseeing logistical arrangements including recruiting and
training volunteers for our events. The Program Coordinator will also assist with other JASH programs as
needed.

Reporting
Full-time position; Monday Friday, 7:30am 4:30pm. This position reports to the Vice President.

Desired Skills and Experience
Prior program-coordination experience is preferred but not required. Candidate must be flexible and have
ability to do multi-tasking. Experience working with Japanese Nationals or study / work experience in Japan is
a plus. Basic Japanese language ability (reading/writing) is highly recommended.

Knowledge of Adobe software to include desktop publishing software is preferred but not required.

Occasional heavy lifting (up to approximately 30 lbs) may be required. A handful of activities and programs
each year may extend beyond the normal work hours (Evenings and Saturdays).

Based upon experience.
