ISTE STANDARDS FOR TEACHERS!

1. FACILITATE AND INSPIRE STUDENT
LEARNING
AND CREATIVITY
I used ISTE 1a ( Promote, support, and model creative and innovative
thinking and inventiveness) throughout this whole course because in the
assignment the student had to explore their creativity such as Kidspiration
and Comics.
I used ISTE 1c (Promote student reflection using collaborative tools to reveal
and clarify students conceptual understanding and thinking, planning, and
creative processes) mainly with the white board activity. This allowed
students to watch one another and review material that was already learned.
I used ISTE 1d (Model collaborative knowledge construction by engaging in
learning with students, colleagues, and others in face-to-face and virtual
environments) this was used throughout each assignment because
technology as a whole engages students in learning.
Overall, this course has prepared me to plan lessons and activities including
technology to help students become more engaged and express their creativity.
2. DESIGN AND DEVELOP DIGITAL AGE
LEARNING EXPERIENCES AND
ASSESSMENTS
I used ISTE 2a (Design or adapt relevant learning experiences that incorporate
digital tools and resources to promote student learning and creativity) in this
course with the mobile learning assignment. By using cell phones in the lesson
and can enhance and engage the students learning process.
I used ISTE2b (Develop technology-enriched learning environments that enable all
students to pursue their individual curiosities and become active participants in
setting their own educational goals, managing their own learning, and assessing
their own progress) throughout this course such as in Web Quests because it
allows a student to work through it on their own pace.
I used ISTE 2c (Customize and personalize learning activities to address students
diverse learning styles, working strategies, and abilities using digital tools and
resources) throughout this whole course. This standard is the basis of what this
course teaches us is different activities for different students.
Overall, this standard has been met simply through this course because of the
different activities that have prepared us to use in our future classrooms.
3. MODEL DIGITAL AGE WORK AND
LEARNING
I used ISTE 3b (Collaborate with students, peers, parents, and community
members using digital tools and resources to support student success and
innovation) in this course through audio and visual activities such as
Podcasts, videos, and screen casts to communicate with students and
parents outside the classroom.
I used ISTE 3c (Communicate relevant information and ideas effectively to
students, parents, and peers using a variety of digital age media and formats)
the same ways I used ITSE 3b. It helps take learning and information beyond
the classroom.
I used ISTE 3d (Model and facilitate effective use of current and emerging
digital tools to locate, analyze, evaluate, and use information resources to
support research and learning) using Web 2.0 tools to expand my classroom
activities.
Overall, this ISTE standard has been incorporated throughout this course. It has
made me aware of all of the tools you can use in the classroom to incorporate
technology.
4. PROMOTE AND MODEL DIGITAL
CITIZENSHIP
AND RESPONSIBILITY
I used ISTE 4a (. Advocate, model, and teach safe, legal, and ethical use of
digital information and technology, including respect for copyright, intellectual
property, and the appropriate documentation of sources) throughout this
course a lot when citing references, pictures, etc. in my assignments.
I used ISTE 4b (Address the diverse needs of all learners by using learner-
centered strategies providing equitable access to appropriate digital tools and
resources) in my field experience making sure that the students were using
the correct level of technology in their assignment.
I used ISTE 4 (Promote and model digital etiquette and responsible social
interactions related to the use of technology and information) in this course to
make sure material was appropriate in m assignments.
Overall, this is a very important standard because as the teacher you set an
example for students when using technology. I have learned to be responsible
while using technology with students.
5. ENGAGE IN PROFESSIONAL
GROWTH
AND LEADERSHIP
I used ISTE 5a (Participate in local and global learning communities to
explore creative applications of technology to improve student learning) not
only in this class but in a lot of my other education courses to learn from
others on what they know.
I used ISTE 5b (Exhibit leadership by demonstrating a vision of technology
infusion, participating in shared decision making and community building, and
developing the leadership and technology skills of others) in my field
experience. I had to work with others and make a lesson together.
I used ISTE 5c (Evaluate and reflect on current research and professional
practice on a regular basis to make effective use of existing and emerging
digital tools and resources in support of student learning) when writing my
reflection paper and now on this assignment. It helps me learn what I did,
what I could improve, and what I need to learn.
Overall, this standard is one that will be used constantly in the education field. I
have learned to go back and review my work so I can better improve my
learning experience.
