Patrick demonstrated knowledge of the 4
th
grade curriculum. He consistently sought new information, ideas and methods. It
was apparent that Patrick spent time getting to know the students in the room and worked to motivate and encourage the
students. Improvement was evident when it came to Patricks instructional goal setting. He consistently fine-tuned his lessons
and sought feedback. Patrick became very capable in assessing student learning and providing feedback. He was instrumental
in our end of the year assessments.

Patrick managed student behavior by commanding respect from students and building rapport with students. He was able to
encourage students to give their best effort and did so in a fair and consistent manner. He complied with the policies and
procedures that were established prior to him coming to the classroom. He was able to make all students feel as if they could
contribute and to correct students without disparagement.

During instructional time, Patrick did a fine job stating instructional objectives even listing them on the whiteboard for the
students to see visually. He improved his ability to use questioning and discussing techniques in a way that encouraged all
students to participate. When teaching Patrick provided immediate feedback to students and was able to help students in both
large and small group situations.

Patrick was able to accomplish the demands of a full schedule, with ease. After teaching a lesson, Patrick and I had wonderful
discussions on what parts of the lesson were effective and how we would have altered other parts to better tailor the lesson to
the needs of the students. Patrick is very insightful when reflecting on his teaching. A few times, Patrick was able to
communicate with families concerning both positive and negative situations. Patrick did so in a professional manner and the
parents gave him positive feedback for his communication skills.
